and the hennessey IS faster then the gt500, they picked it b.c of the ride quality. BTW I am not bashing the gt500 in any way... I LOVE that car...

The hennessey is also an aftermarket car. It's a close comparison, but it's not the same thing. I do agree with you 100% about comparing the SS to the GT500. Not a fair comparison. I do disagree with the narrator of the vid. I don't know ONE Mustang owner that's bitched about the SS having a 6.2L. It is what it is. It was no different in the Fox days with GM putting in a 5.7L engine to compete with Ford's 5.0L (because their 5.0 sucked big balls). It is nice having the Camaro around again. It's got a good history and is a nice rival to the Mustang. Hope it sticks around (and the Challenger).

Why shouldnt you compare the SS to the gt500? Right now its the top of the line camaro compared to the top of the line mustang? Fuck price? When and if another camaro comes out that is the top of the line then compare away. When my car was new it was 27,000 and it damn sure got compared to a 35k nissan 350 and a sti and evo etc etc etc. Oh well who cares. Here this is fair, compare a ss camaro with a 6.2lt which will cost more then 32k loaded to a gt with a 4.6 and the camaro barely beats it. I have said it for 20 years and chevy proves it once again, inch for inch they can not compete with ford.

MT sucks dick at driving. The GT500 rapes the Camaro. The Camaro is barely faster than the GT. The 2011 Stangs are going to rape the Camaro in a straight line, and in the twisties.

I think everyone has missed the best thing about this. It's the return of the pony wars boys. All this means is the cars are going to get faster and the prices will hopefully fall some as Ford, Chevy, ( and if Dodge sticks around ) compete for that guy out there looking to buy him a muscle car that he remembers from his childhood.
Competition is good, it only makes you better.

I like the GT500, very nice car for all it does, the new one is even better than previous generation...its closing the gap on the vette... I'd still take a Terminator over the GT500 though As far as the SS vs the GT you must be looking at 0-60 times, at 130mph the GT is like 12 seconds behind...12 seconds is like BUS Giga-buslengths. I guess you've seen this video too.... Last edited by pharmd; October 9th, 2009 at 06:39 PM. |

Camaro don't handle for crap, its waaay too soft. But being that people on these boards never
Leave anything stock I don't guess it matters. I mean, if you want fast AND warranty buy a Tuner car or a GT500. Otherwise it really doesn't matter and it becomes about looks, Exclusivity and brand loyalty. Either of these cars can be modded to be killers, so its all really About who has the most $$$ in the end. The basic Mustang GT can sure be a looker though, so much after market support With suspension, wheels and groundeffects/bodykits they are hard to beat. |

What i love is that Road and Track along with Car and Driver, both say that a 2010 Mustang GT is better then a Camaro SS. They both say that the Mustang out handles and brakes the Camaro. IMO if you are going to compare a Mustang to a Camaro, do top end model to top end model and also base to base. Only way to do it.

http://www.caranddriver.com/var/ezfl...040c16c364.pdf If you look at the powertrain chart, and check acceleration figures, I really would doubt that a GT would beat an SS on a road course either. It would have to be a short course with lots of turns and short straights that minimize speed, other than that, the 'stang's handling advantage couldn't make up for its lack of speed. http://www.caranddriver.com/var/ezfl...650bbb926b.pdf With aftermarket suspensions it would be really interested to re-test these cars and see who comes out the victor...both have and will continue to have a very strong aftermarket. |

Unfortunately it is fairly stock appearing right now. Can't afford to do a proper wheel/tire setup, my suspension stuff will be here in around 3 weeks, so stock height for now. I have a few little exterior touches, like blacked out bowtie, and some flat black accents here and there, a few emblem deletes. Eventually I want to add a carbon fiber hood, front lip, trunk, rear diffuser and maybe flat black spoiler (or CF). At some point I have to upgrade the tranny, add a converter, new DS and CV axles, forge the shortblock, up the boost etc etc. I'll end up with WAY WAY WAY too much money in a 30K car. I'd be better off selling it and buying a 4th gen for 10K and modding it, cheaper parts, lighter car etc.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here are a couple quick video's just playing around... One from the Track...We still haven't made a full pass yet, you can listen to the motor as I leave the line, I'm not going WOT in 1st gear (notice it short shifts), and having issues with the TC kicking in around the 1000ft mark resulting in total loss of power (due to me running 18's vs 20's and not re-tuning for it). |
