Lol I do agree America may last longer with high HP cars but eventually they will have to drop HP and lower the weights of the cars significantly; I hope not soon, but I believe one day the government will step in dramatically to the high HP sports car scene and possibly limit it even more to their abilities. But, we will see!

Screw that, I'll figure out how to drop a monster engine in a Nissan Leaf before there are no more muscle cars!

Remove the entire back seat and let that bitch breathe!!!

I see governments getting more strict with epa stuff but i dont think we'll lose the supercars. They will find a way to make them meet regulations and continue to produce them with more than enough hp to be happy with. Just look at how far engine technologies have come already. We're making a lot MORE hp with SMALLER engines and BETTER fuel economy. I dont see why we wont continue to progress this way. However i do feel there will be a decrease in hp in the near future, i just dont think we will lose our beloved supercars

Long as people keep forking over 50, 60, 70, 100K for cash the manufacturers will keep making them. All new regulations will push us towards a 80s era performance recession, but it wont be that bad again. Efficiency wasnt looked at as a way to make power before.

I see what you're saying. I also believe the horsepower numbers will most definitely go down due to government related issues; I honestly won't be too concerned with that though as long as they would start to make the cars with 'less is more' in the weight department and more engine efficiency, I.e. better horsepower and torque curves throughout the power band.

I personally don't know if hp numbers will go down but the engine size will. More manufactures are starting to realize that bigger power can be made from smaller engines with forced induction.

I dont see supercars or sports cars going away, it's a matter of being able to not only afford the car but afford the gas for it. I see that as being the biggest problem gas is already substantially higher in other countries and it will continue to go up here and there.

And hope fully they never phase out rear wheel drive cars, i understand that awd and fwd are more favorable in bad weather but it not all cars need to be awd or fwd even though almost all are now except for trucks, supercars and the few remaining american classic sport/pony cars
