Mellon Tuning EVO vs 525+bhp Viper SRT-10 with exhaust

talked my dad into bringing out the viper this weekend, he never drives it, hence the missed and slow shifts but we had some fun

is your mustang gt fast? stock evos run 13.5 @ 105 driven properly and 12.5 ~ 110-115 with raised boost, exhaust and an air filter.

that's for the evo 8, the evo 9 is a little faster. not bragging just stating some facts for those that aren't familiar with them.

i knew the record was like 226 just couldnt find the vid...

my car when i raced the evo and sti... both the same night the results where the same beat em.. i had a 93 race tune, axles backs cai... they had a custom tune and ram air cai and turbo back exhaust...

im awaiting twins for my car so i think that should be more than enough for them when it comes...

if i were u with that evo id go to AMS..

looks like stock for stock the evo's are faster than your GT

http://www.dragtimes.com/compare2.ph...ame=Compare%21

does a "93 race tune, axle back and cai" make that much difference on a GT?

I'm going to the track tonight to find out what it runs in the 1/4

I tune EVOS for a living - www.mellontuning.com

this is what they can expect from a Pro tune, not a Bro tune, exhaust and stock boost over the stock tune and this was with 91 octane.. with 93 they see ~ 320+awhp. These cars weigh 3250lbs at the most so it doesn't require much hp to get them going.

it makes plenty difference.. getting the s197s tuned and jlt cai gives you roughly 27rwhp as advertised but i say its alil less but it changes the whole drive of the car..

well your comment about me taking it to AMS sounded like you were suggesting that I don't know what I'm doing, hence the reason I showed you my website and a before and after tune dyno chart to let you know a little bit about me.

I'm trying to understand how your stock mustang with a tune and cold air which gave you ~ 27rwhp managed to beat even a stock EVO that has a better hp/weight. No need to be insulted though, I'm not saying you didn't do it, I certainly believe you...it's just that I'm trying to understand how you did it. A stock one would have been a good run if it was driven properly as you can see from the typical results of random people on drag times website link I posted. A modded one with a GOOD tune would have been extremely difficult to beat unless they gave the race away by making a poor launch, missed shifts etc.. either way, you won so good kill!

correct, I specialize in the EVO but have tuned f-body, 240, SRT-4, Evolution, DSM, Stealth/3000 etc.. I'm mostly into the Mitsu stuff, that's where I'm most comfortable and have the most experience.

Dude I have a 97 Cobra with 4.10s, K&N FIPK, Accufab TB, stage 2 spec clutch, eibach springs, n a couple other go fast goodies and I still respect EVOs... EVOs and STIs are real good cars. The way I see it is if it has good hp n looks fairly nice its a good car no matter what engine or what maker... and when you say you raced a STI n EVO n beat them.... because I raced both and they ALWAYS hook really good while i was stuck spinning off the line with my all season tires (lol) and even once I did get grip it was still i bitch catching up. the guys you raced are probly just bad drivers...
and once you get your TTs for your car your still never going to beat a evo or sti on a track only on drag strips... I love stangs too but you have to give credit where credit is due..

gotcha,

I did 99% of the work on the 700awhp stealth r/t TT but I don't do transmissions so my buddy dave and I trade out work. I tune his car and his customers cars and he does tranny work for me.

on the EVO, same thing, I had dave install the clutch for me, I did the rest.
