Racing seats

I'm looking into possibly getting some racing seats, but they all look the same. What do you all think about these?

I think they look different but um they don't look to be very good quality to me.
Anyone have any reason why one type is better than another? Any ideas for what seats I should get would be appreciated as long as it's not ridiculous like $600 seat.

OK disregard that then guys. But still what do you guys think about those seats? I think they are on the line between just being diff and being cheap(quality) and ugly. They run about 500 for cloth and 600 for leather. I just can't see someone spending that kind of money on those seats

I am in agreement with others here and think you should spend some money and buy some truley bucket seats. My Recaro "Speed" seats are full-bucket and completely motionless even when autoXing.

Of course, I payed about $1900 a couple years back for seats and slides.

First of all, what is it about the seats you have now that you don't like that is making you want to change them out? Identify that first and that should point you in the right direction as to the type of seat you should get(or not!).

Yea I'm all for different but what the hell were they thinking? I don't know what alien shit looks like but if I had to I guess I could see an alien shitting an ugly seat. Lol So very good point gtman

As far as why am I wanting to change out my seats. Well first off my interior is a hideous brown and tan color and I'm wanting to go with a black and blue interior, most likely all black seats. Secondly my drivers side seat has a big tear that is patched with some sort of semi-matching cloth ductape looking thing. Kinda shitty looking. Thirdly I want to put in a roll cage eventually and build this car up. I know it's gonna cost a shit-ton but it's an gradual build so I want to get a decent looking interior since it'll be cheaper to get the interior done first. and save up for the major performance later. Also the seats are old an kinda uncomfy so I want something that is comfortable.

^ I recommed you go to a performance shoppe that has a display of different seats. I find my seats to be very comfortable, but not always on long trips. After a couple hours, it is nice to shift position a little. The Recaro seats are not too friendly to this idea.

After 99mustanggtman mentioned the possible resemblance to alien shit we decided to get to the bottom of this siting. And after further investigation by the gtman and myself, we have concluded through a rigorous barrage of experimentation that the picture posted above which was originally perceived to be "racing seats" are in fact alien shit. Although the particular genius and species are not yet known, we will keep you updated.

Hahahaha!!!

If you plan on building up your 'stang you need to decide if you will be running it primarily on the street or if you are building it to race full/part time. I say this because you mentioned that you wanted to cage the car. Keep in mind that caging a street car is dangerous. If you get into an accident and hit one of the bars with your head it could kill you or any passengers that are with you. If you're racing then it isn't as much as a problem since you're wearing a helmet but you can't wear a helmet on the street.
If you're trying to build a daily driven streetfighter then I would forget about the cage. Also, in reference to your interior, it sounds like you just want to build a badass streetfighter so you may want to delete the rear seat altogether and just run some solid back buckets. I have some Corbeau F1X's in my car and I love it but I also open track the car so it works well for that. This way the car will be lighter and you'll feel the difference in perfomance but, as Jazzer said, they aren't really made for comfort so if that's what you're going for go to a speed shop and sit in a bunch and see which one you like.

Yeah def going for more of a street car but I've ditched on the cage idea I just want to be able to use a nice harness instead of the stock seatbelt. I saw just a bar that installs driectly behind the seats and it's exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks for all the info keep it coming guys.

A good racing seat and, sorry to Alien Dung seat manufacturers, those fall a little short in my book, will hold you in the seat in spectacular fasion with stock 3 point belt. I corner VERY hard in my ride and am motionless even in the above mentioned autoX.

My seats have the 5 point harness openings, but I just don't need them. I would have to fully commit my ride to the track to justify the rear cross-bar and go 5 point.

So I wouldn't need a bar with a 3point, only with the 5point I would need the bar?
