getting paint chips fixed is actually quite easy and you can do it yourself if you aren't scared of a little sandpaper. you need to get touchup paint in the paint code your car came in. if you are touching up your stripes then you'll need to get the body shop to give you some of the extra paint for that purpose. the best way to touch up a rock chip is to use something similar to a needle (like you'd shoot up with if you were a junky ) only made for paint.

fill in the chip, let it dry, sand it smooth with a fine paper (someone help me with the correct grit), then with a buffer and wax you buff it back out to a clear coat shine. voila.....you'd never know it was there.

+1 on that. I have vinyl now not quite 2 yrs old. I did that because I could not afford paint and was unsure of the color. So while it was still $400, better safe than sorry. Mine will come off as I start body mods, wing, front Roush,, ect. My problem....there are like embedded water spots on the stripes...acid rain?? that do NOT come off or wax off...could even be windshield washer fluid..no idea. But now...I need to get them painted and I will slightly change the color to an actual metallic Parchment rather than this light gold vinyl so I am glad I did vinyl first.

Black...you can go silver and you can go pewter-either looks terrific. With Black, you have the freedom to do any color including a custom Mystic. Yes make sure they are wide..decide if you want chaser stripes or not and make sure you do bumper to end of bumpers. Some people don't carry the stripes all the way down and IMO looks unfinished. I'd recommend professional install unless you are very good at applying vinyl.

Good luck!

I went with vinyl stripes, because I wasn't sure how I'd feel. Here's a pic of my car and I love them, so I'll be springing for paint soon!

Must have stripes. Mine were vinyl, but after a lot of problems with them fading/peeling/spotting, I had them painted on.

Well, the job was 1100 bucks. Just for the top stripes. The side ones are still vinyl.

But, since I ordered them when I ordered the car, and they were giving me problems, my dealer footed half the bill. So only 550 bucks.

you could do the charcoal stripes like the black gt500's or silver, and if you want to get the vinyl and see how you feel about them then I say go for it. but +1 to zip because you cant beat painted.

Those are BFG KDW2's, and I love them. They handle great, and are also great in the rain. I've never run a set of Nitto's, so I can't compare the two.

Contact your dealer or a reputable paint shop would be my suggestion.

the only thing i'll caution you about getting wide vinyl custom made is that they will really have to know what they are doing because the trunk is very tricky. they will actually be narrower in places to make it not come together at the glass. it can be done, but you just have to make sure that customer satisfaction is first and you don't pay until you are happy with the results.

i say no. only if you don't plan on having the car in a few years. thats only b/c i think it hurts the value in resale. but if you plan on keeping the car for a long while then yes.
