Are 18's Too Big For A Stang?

i found these on ebay, but i dunno if they are too big - 18x9/10

i was hoping to go for 17's, kinda like AB has, but these look priced to sell at about 600 (then i could get tires later on i guess..though 18" tires are more $ than 17s right?...)

maybe i should just hold out for 17s

yea, 18" tires cost more than 17". about 10-15 dollars more per tire. thats the main reason i got 17"s, also, more rear sidewall...

i dont really care about the sidewall THAT much since i dont plan on racing very much - i was wondering how they would look, and if there would problems with fitment

plus if its only 15$ more for a tire i dont mind

no its not lowered....and if i ever do lower (i may not bother since in NY the streets arent great and there are enough driveways and stuff that it may be a PITB...... i rub the machone chin as it is in some driveways) it would be like a prokit or something like that that isnt so drastic

I think 18's are perfect...17's look a little small in my opinion and the price difference between the two isn't that great...i think get the 18's cause you might feel the 17's are a little small in the long run

true. 18s look better to many people so the cost of tires doesnt really come into play. if it is a street car, 17s look great on sn95's, and 17-18s look great on 99-04's.

being at stock ride height, the 18's will fill the fender gap a little better... on a side note, i see steeda put their ultra lite series 1 wheels on sale on their website and they sent me an e-mail flyer. was thinking about an order of those with new x2 ball joints and bump steer kit.

17" w/ a drop look perfect but you can't beat the 18" Y2K Cobra R's, one of the best looking 18" on the market!

the bigger the wheels the more rotational mass hens it takes more power
to turned the wheels and tire combo personally i think that mustangs already have a firm ride if u trow in some suspension work and on top of that some big wheels with small tires then the ride could get to harsh if u can live with it then why not just watch out for put holes

I think the 18's fill up the wheel well very nice. Expecially on the new body style. I didn't feel any difference in the GT that I test drove (17's) and the ride quality of my 18's (Factory wheels). The factory gives you a special upgraded suspension if you have the 18 package.

But it all comes down to personal choice. Good luck with your decission.

I'm new to the world of mustangs
Drove my dad's for a acouple of years in high school... 99 silver.
It's dinged up a bit (half of which is my fault) but I decided to buy it.. dirt cheap too... well, maybe not considering the body.. but after I'm done that'll be fixed... and more

Other than that I'm excited as hell. I'm getting a second job (which means I'll work 7 days a week, doubles on Saturday and I go to school full time)

It should only take 2 years to pay it off and have everything done to it... except the motor

I know I'm going for 18's but I don't really wanna pose and get the cobra rims... I've seen polish guarantees for three years, is this the norm? Or are there better deals out there? I absolutely have to get chrome
I've just got a car I can be proud of and I wouldn't have it anyother way. Any suggestions on rims and tires? I hear that if I get everything aligned an upsize should be fine.

i think the black wheels look badass against the silver stangs. cobra wheels just float out look great on these cars and its not going to make to a "posuer" as for 18s they arent going to make the best performing wheel but they will look good. tires also for the 18 are aa little more expensive

That's one desicion I've made... it's a mustang not a range rover... I'm not too worried about the ride and as far as 18's go... If I'm going to spend the money I'm going to spend the money. I just have to make it first :p

The best street application for 94-04 Mustangs is a 17x8 [235/45/17] or 17x9 [240/40/17] front wheel with a 17x10.5 [315/35/17] rear wheel. You can't beat the looks of the rear being filled out with a fat tire and maintaining great driveability up front.
