Racing Stripes decal or paint?

So im wanting to get a coupleof black racing strips going down the stang from bumber to bumber and im not sure which way to go.. I always assumed i would just have them painted on and not have to worry about peeling or anything like that but after talking with a friend about the decal stripes that are put on with a heat gun im not really sure which way to go. Im looking for something that will last a longgg time and keep looking great if anyone has used a decal racing stripe before and has a great brand to sugjest im all ears or if you have had bad expierences with eather one please let me know!
Thanks
Wilson

well it would be easier to have them painted on.. but more expensive. and if you put them on yourself then you haveta worry about bubbles and all sorts of stuff like that... most people will say have them painted on but its really your preference. also vinyl seems to fade in time where the paint will stay for longer if its a good paint job and good clear coat

its not easy at all.. you will haveta re-clearcoat everything you jsut painted... not only will you have to sand down the clearcoat and strip the paint down to primer where you are going to paint it, but then you have to cover the entire car except where you are going to paint the stripes due to the over spray, then you will haveta wait for that to cure then remove the coverings for your front bumper, hood, trunk, and rear bumper and re clear those entire peices.. a lot of work to do.. if you are going to have them painted on get a body shop to do it

Yea there no way im going anywhere near my car with paint. Hell i cant even color inside the lines lol. I guess ill get some price quotes on haveing them painted on but if it exceeds 200 ill probibly just go with vinyals unless you all think that vinyal is just a horrible idea.

ive got vinal i got mine off ebay with rocker stripes and bumper inserts together for 36$ :-) luckiest ive ever been. and they work fine, ide go with them, atleast u can change ur mind that way, and from what ive seen there pretty durable. Only thing i had a prob with was going around curves and stuff like that little licence plate spot on the front bumper, i gave up on that and just put the stang lol

lol yea it looks good. Ill get a quote today on getten them painted and if its too high ill most likley go vinyal. Can you take the vinyal ones off if they start to fade and you want new ones? Or would the paint under them be compromised?

I had 2 black 10" racing stripes down my Sonic Blue V6. Put them on myself. Never had a problem with them. No pealing. No bubbles. Nothing. All for less than $40. At that price it is worth a try. I got mine off ebay. It's a bit time consuming, but the results were worth it. Just do not go over them with a buffer. Made that mistake once. LOL Had to re-do one stripe on the hood. Vinyl stripes have to be hand waxed. Just don't make the stripes to thin. They'll look stupid.

If you have the money and you are sure you won't get sick of them paint them on, but why on God's earth would you put a layer of clear coat over them? Wax yes, clear coat no. I had plenty of coats of wax on mine, you just can't do the little circles. You have to do it in staright lines in the direction of the srtipes. If they ever start to bubble a little put the car in the sun or use a hair dryer. I do not advise putting them on in winter. Not a good idea.

Your stang is nice. It needs new wheels and a mach I chin spoiler. Chrome Bullitts or Saleens would look cool as hell on a well waxed yellow car. A mach I grill delete kit wouldn't hurt either, but those are all just opinions.
