Another legality question about hids

I looked at the nc laws and it said the headlights cant produce a color other than white. Since the 4300k hid kit is called "pure white", i would consider them legal. i also didnt see any "any changes to the headlight are illegal" related law, so they seem perfectly legal.

do you guys think that they would be legal?

anybody have pics of 4300k on their car (facing the car and output)?

i have ss ultras in right now, but i would like a little extra brightness and i would like extra lifespan.

No, I believe the 6k are brighter. 6k is the highest you can go *WITHOUT* getting a blue tint. I plan on getting 6k when I get HID's.

I'm not an HID expert. I just don't know "nothing" about them. (ha, that's confusing but hopefully you understand that )

Nope. 4300 are brighter than 6000.

Placing HIDs in any vehicle that did not come with them from the factory is illegal (this isn't a state law, it's federal). Also, DOT Standard 108 says you can not put HIDs in a housing designed for halogen bulbs. This means all the Mustangs on here with HIDs in reflector housings are illegal.

Also, on the vvme.com FAQ it states they aren't legal:

4300K is in fact brighter than 6000K. 4300K is the brightest light you can get and the most true white. 6000K is a nice color though, it's got a slight blue tint. 8000K is way too much blue and purple. I really doubt you'll have much trouble if you're going to get a 4300K kit. Just aim them properly so you don't blind people.
