Washing after paint.

So I just had an 01 cobra front, mach c panels, and side scoops painted and installed on my car. How long should I wait to wash it, or can I go ahead and wash it as long as I baby it?

I use a microfiber wash mit and a sham wow type shammy to dry. Turtle wax car soap. Will that be alright?

i'd wait about a month just to let the paint harden good.

Now i know alot of people say wait such and such amount of time before washing a freshly painted car, but every car i have ever painted i always wash the car and put a coat or two of Wizards Shine Master( a breathable clearcoat sealent) before i returned it to the customer. I am just careful that everything i use to wash it is completely clean.

Im not saying you wont scratch yours though if you wash it, the clear that was used on your car may be different than what i use. Im just saying i have washed everything I have painted one to three days after clearing and have never messed up the finish.

Yea, I went ahead and washed it. Used a brand new micro fiber mit, new shammy, and went really light on the painted parts and used Meguiars gold class soap. No scratches or swirl marks.

Be sure to wax it... Travis knows the time frame you should wait before doing so, however the instant its safe do it so you keep that paint lookin fresh.

Youll be fine. If you really want to be safe you could always wax it with presta fast wax. It is designed to be used with "fresh paint" reason being it allows solvents to still evaporate or some bs. Not that ive never had any trouble with using any kind of wax (as early as a few hours after baking) on fairly fresh clear but this stuff actually has it in the info that its safe on fresh paint. The main problem with trying to wax or more so buff some fairly fresh clear is that it will end up dieing back or having some killer swirl marks.

it will depend on what the final cure time for the clearcoat is, but a couple months is a very safe number.

and the reason it could die back, is because the cure isn't fully cured and the solvents are trapped underneath the wax. that is why I use a breathable sealant, because the solvents can still escape.
