Replacing Carpet

Ya... I get to many ideas...

Anyways, I think I want to replace the carpet in my car. I see AM has a replacement carpet kit for $129 and that sounds like a good deal to me. Few questions:

Under the carpet... I do not have the money for sound deadening, nor do I really think it's worth the time and money to deaden the WHOLE bottom of the car. It has it's advantages, but not for me. I was thinking of maybe painting the metal under carpet for rust prevention? Maybe some form of thick paint for a bit of insulation and/or vibration resistance?

Two, color. I have converted my interior to Black/Red. I was thinking black carpet but I can just see myself fuming over every spec of dirt in it. At the same time, the black would look sick with the interior theme... when clean. So, Dark Charcoal? Here are the two im thinking about:

Mustang Replacement Floor Carpet - Dark Charcoal (94-04) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!
Mustang Replacement Floor Carpet - Black (94-04) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

Thoughts?

i actually have the dark charcoal in mine right now and in mine unless i roll with the windows and sunroof open it just looks black anyways. its really dark. it would be even less noticeable if you have black floor mats. at the same time though if i put as much work in my car as you have i would opt for the black just to be thorough.

Ya, thats what I was thinking. Keep it all the same... however im worried about dirt and fading. My car parks on the good o ground.. not a slab or driveway. So each time I get in it I track some dirt in. I use some of the heavy duty rubber floor matts when im not at a show and it helps alot.

I'd love to change mine to Black. Having the dark charcoal is almost like the black. I vacuum mine out every weekend. Trying to keep an all black car clean can be a pain but it does look so nice when it's done. If you are going to paint the floor, try using something like Rhino liner. It should help keep the floor rust free and help protect it from any bad spills inside. If you are really worried about fading, you could always get a car cover ad keep it covered when your not driving. It would be a pain, but help keep it nice inside.

Thats a good idea about the bed liner stuff. I know walmart sells gallons of some cheap bed liner as does autozone. That would solve my problem about adding some vibration absorbtion and sound deadening as well.

I just blacked out my interior and bought the black carpet you are talking about from American Muscle and it looks outstanding. I just love the carpet. However, it was a pita to get it in and fitted right. You will also have to cut all the holes for mounting the seats and belts but im sure that is a standard on all carpets. Other than that I love the carpet I bought. The only thing I can suggest is to get floor mats and just clean them when you wash your car. It should help cut down on any wear and/or fading.

p.s. I live a country/rural area so its pretty dirty here. I do get prints but I dont think there is going to be much difference in the two and the only way to really stop it would be to take off your shoes before you get in
