Interior Blackout

Well I have been looking for a project to do over spring break and after seeing some of the interior blackout projects some of the members have done I thought it would be a great quick 2-3 day project for me to do over spring break...............man was I wrong. This project was WAY more involved than I was thinking it would be. However, it did work out well and I love the end result. I will be posting pictures as I have time to upload them. Here are a few that I have right now. Sorry for a few of the pictures.

Looking good. Heck of an undertaking. Should look like a new car when you are done.. What are your plans for the seats?

Originally, I was going to try and dye them but the are in such worn shape that I dont think it would be worth it. So, I am going to get custom seat covers for them. I wanted to reupholster but I cant find any kits other than leather and vinyl and I want cloth.

Very nice bro. Ya... I LoL'd when I saw you say a 2-3 day thing. Mine took 1 month and I did not even replace my carpet. Although thats just a one day thing I would think..

Some advice, go slooooow. My main regret is that I did not take my time on the dash with the clear coat.

While your at it, make a reat seat delete

If it was me, I would shampoo the seats real good & dye them black.
I think you will be surprised how well they will look.

+1 on the rear seat delete

It wasnt too bad it took me about four days workin sunrise to sunset. Pulled everything, washed it, then painted. I have most of it back in just need to do small touch ups here an there.

I really wanted to cuz I didnt want to spend any more money than I had to but when I pulled my seats and started cleaning them I noticed there was something in the back of the seats in the pockets. I stuck my hand in and pulled out wads of melted candy and wrappers. The owner before me didnt keep her kids in check I found more of the same when I pulled the carpet. But other than that the fabric had a rip in it and a good chunk of the foam has fallen out of it.

But before I order the covers I will look into it again before I make my final decision

I still have mixed feelings about the rear seat delete. I like how it looks but im always afraid that im going to need those seats one day. That and I can help thinking something is missing when I seen it without them. But i guess thats the point

You can always keep the seats in storage...

I took a month mainly because this was my first time doing anything like it, and I took my time. I also was only able to really work on the weekends.

I don't mean to hate because it drives me nuts when people post just to say they didnt like the way something looked in someone else's car but...

Dont you think it looks a little too ricey with the blue insert pieces? Maybe it's just me, but I think it would look better with either everything black or do a charcoal/dark gray if you wanted it two-toned. It's your car and if you like the blue then that's all that matters, I just thought I would make that suggestion.

Looks like you did a really nice job on everything though! Did you use mostly dyes or paint? What kind of dyes and paint did you use, where'd you get it?

Its cool I like all input, even the negative ones

Nah in part I kinda agree with you. I was wanting a really dark blue n I just couldnt find the shade I was looking for. That blue is way too light for what I was wanting. I am thinking about going back with something darker I just havent decided on what.

For better or worse I used all spray paint. I used Duplicolor Vinyl and Fabric paint and I bought everything from O'reily's. Also, I used their prep wipes on EVERYTHING!!

If you look at doing the same I would suggest trying to replace the high traffic pieces instead of painting them. Saves some heart ache when things get scratched.

Looks good man, I like the blue personally. One way you could get the plastic pieces that are blue darker is use a black primer insted of a gray one. I know it sounds odd, but it works. The dark primer makes the color a tad bit darker.

Already got that new carpet dirty

I thought about maybe painting them black then doing one very light coat of blue

That could work. Paint them black then kinda do a overspray look of blue. Just enought to bring out the blue tint but not enough to make it completly blue.
