Problems with Vht Niteshades

So I finally got my niteshades 2day and boy did the color turn out great, but when it came time to clear coat,I used duplicolor clear enamel, it didn't turn out at all...after a few coats it was still dull looking..I attempted to wet sand with 2000 grit but I was afraid the niteshades would come off so I didn't...could the guy who helped me out the last time tell me wat should I do??..should I wet sand and do the clear coat again??..

Well if you need to take it off I hear there's this stuff called "OOPS" that does a good job.

I took a spray bottle and filled it with water and drop or two of car wash and and wet the 2000 grit paper and soaked the light one side at a time and slowly and gentlly sanded the light for about 15min for each side.I then rinsed it off with water and dried it and applied polishing compound to them and buffed them with one of those $20 buffers from walmart for about 20min on each side.THey turned out just like a brand new set of oem tails..its raining like a bitch here so i cant get pics until sunday but when i do i will take some and post up here!!

That's exactly what I would have recommended. It's just like paint (you can actually substitute black paint w/ a lot of clear) so the procedure for making it shine is the same. Congrats on getting it fixed and it'll be good to see pics.

I tried black paint and you couldn't any light when the brakes were pressed so I sanded it off and buffed it out. Now I'm trying to decide whether I want to buy the VHT or the Tamiya smoke paint.

So wat do u mean by that?Instead of niteshades u can layer on clear coat to get the same effect??Also let's say in the future I wanted to get more spray and make them darker, how would I go about doing that?Could I just sand it lightly and go over it or would I have to sand it all off and start over??Thx!!

lol... no what he meant was if you mix your own paint. If you were to mix clear coat to spray through a paint gun and put a little black in it it would still mostly clear just tinted with black. In other words tinting clear coat with colors to make them translucent (sp?)

and to add to what you got it just needs scuffed. aka lightly sanded

Lol..no laughing at me jerk..LOL..JK..Nah but I didn't really understand!!lol..I appreciate ur answer man..reason why I asked about adding more niteshades was I used about 90 percent of it and was afraid I wasn't gonna have enough to do the sidemarkers so I stopped after about 8layers..I only used maybe another 2percent of it on the side markers so I still got a bit left for maybe a coat or two on my tails..I guess ima pull em out again and redo them sometime in the near future!!

This is what I mean. It has to be mixed and applied w/ a spray gun. I believe the mixture is around 85% clear and 15% black paint. Sorry for any confusion.
