Wheel Wells

So.. I am gonna have my car jacked up putting new wheels on soon. I have noticed that my wheel wells have some red overspray and just overall look bad.

I was wondering if there was anyway to touch it up with some kind of paint. Maybe bumper coating or exterior trim paint? I am just looking for something to return it to that black that it is suppose to have.

Granted, I know it will never be perfect since it is the wheel well, I was just wondering if anyone know of a touchup for it?

My Friend did his engine bay and wheel wells of his truck with that spray can truck bed liner and it looked good. I would make sure to clean extra well though, I would think there is a lot of road gunk on there that would keep anything from really sticking. You might also look into that tar-ish undercoating type stuff

Ya, they have the rubberized undecoating that you can buy but that stuff is expensive, smells like ass, and a huge can of it does not cover much.

I think I am gonna try and get some of the bumper coating spray from auto zone just to cover up the overspray and such... thats my main issue. I want it to be uniform around the wheels and be dark... not sprinkled red.

In that case, you might just use some flat black spray paint... thats what I use to cover over-spray on my driveway

But the undercoating shouldn't be that expensive for a can and I remember I did all 4 wheel wells with 1 can... At the body shop I worked at we used it all day, every day.

Got under there and used some flat black paint today. Result was really good. I got the back and passanger done. The Passenger did not come out as well because I started getting tired... note to self: late night work = mistakes.

shits clean yo. It may not be seen like the outside but at least its another thing that looks good. I wish i had patience to paint and do stuff like that to my car

Thanks. You acually can see it at times when the sun is on that area at the right time of day. Plus I dont like the idea of bare metal in an area like that where rocks can chip the paint and rust.

true, i was just lookin in the 3rd or 4th pic, the one with your brakes painted, did you just do that too? and how much did you paint, it looks like the entire thing is red??

Ya, I painted the calipers red as well. There is another thread in the Visual section about that. I had the fronts done for a few weeks... figuered I would get that done while I was in there.

It looks like it all is red because I had not removed the tape and shit at that time.

OOOOh.... I was looking at the pics and was originally thinking that the paint was from whoever painted your car last, I completely forgot you were doing your brakes... lol

Acually, that was not from me. After feeling it and cleaning, it seems that there was a layer of that rubber stuff and it has simply come off. Part of it was still there. The red you see is the car metal.

The black spray is fine for now. If I notice it chipping bad then I will plan to do the rubber coating.
