Cobra Bumper or Porter Cable buffer...

So, I have a large check coming and I want to do atleast one major thing for the car. Here are the options:

2003 Cobra Bumper
$335 painted and shipped
No fog lights or bezel
2003-04 Ford Mustang Cobra Front Bumper Painted:eBay Motors (item 260274596958 end time Jul-09-09 09:05:43 PDT)

Porter Cable 7424 & XMT Swirl Remover kit
$280 shipped
Porter Cable 7424 Car Buffer, 7424 Polisher, dual action buffer, pc 7424, ultimate detailing machine, orbital buffer, car polisher
XMT Pad Maintenance Kit by Pinnacle For your dual action or rotary polisher.

Pros and Cons:

Bumper would be a major face lift for the front of my car. My current bumper needs to be painted BAD and the Cobra looks so freaking aggresive.

Buffer would really help the paint of the car since I have some major water spots, swirls, and oxidation on the hood, roof, trunk, ect.

Bumper cost more

Buffer would only mask the front end's need to be repainted

Also.. for those that have gotten a Cobra bumper; Where did you get it? What was the price? Did it come Primed/painted? How was the fitment? Did you have to re-use the metal brackets from your old bumper?

Heres the thing with a cobra bumper. You will have to find a place to get the brackets and foglights which could be up to another $100. If you arent going to install it, then you are looking at $75-200 from a body shop. If the paint sucks, or gets damaged while being shipped, you will have to get that replaced. So, not to be mister negative, but with the cobra bumper, you might end up paying alot more.

But then again it looks so awesome, so it gets my vote.

Is it going to go on your 20003 V6? Because you might want to look at this....

"You are bidding on one: 2003-04 Ford Mustang Cobra Front Bumper Painted to Match

Fits: Cobra Models "

Brackets for the Bumper or Brackets for the Foglights? If it is for the foglights I will do that later down the road. I don't see how the Cobra bumper's brackets could be different from the V6 considering the sides where the bumper attach are exactly the same, as is the fenders they connect to.

If you arent going to install it, then you are looking at $75-200 from a body shop.

I will be installing it

Over 1,800 positive responses about the paint from this seller. If it is damaged they replace it instantly.

Well of course they are going to say a Cobra bumper fits a Cobra Mustang. That does not mean they can be interchanged. You missed this note:

** Can be modified to fit GT and Base mode cars.

Anyone who has purchased a Cobra bumper for a V6 or GT that can chime in about the brackets would be great

i put a cobra bumper on my cousins gt, and did not need anything different. you will need the foglight bezels, which the foglights screw right into. otherwise, it will fit. though i know the fitment with the hood is different. on my cousins car though we put a cobra hood on at the same time, so i did not have to worry about that. but the bumper mounted right up with no issues.

I caught your fail...

Hmm, the part of the hood that touches the bumper looks exactly the same on all of them to me. My hood is the same hood they used on the 99 and 01 cobras, the reversed hood scoop.

Will do some research.

It seems, from some Google searching, that the only issue is the stock V6/GT Hood's clearance from the top pillers that make out the shape of the grill. The fix is easy... they say drill new holes in your header panel about 1/2" inch back from the stock mounting holes and mount the bumper there. Makes it flush and no clearance issues.

My header panel is already fucked up tho. I have metal brackets extending to the bumper to hold it since the area that had the stock holes broke off. I can move the brackets back some for the Cobra bumper.

I should get paid today.. I am probally gonna order it. Will be $345 with tax, painted, and shipped. I can get the chine spolier and foglights later.

Well, I made a offer for $270 for the bumper and I got it. Total price with shipping and tax is $325. Gonna be July 29th (My Birthday!) at the earliest before I get it. 10-15days to paint/ship 17-24 days for USPS Parcel Post to get it here.

Can't wait.. hope I can make the hood line up.

That was a Buffer PLUS a Swirl removing kit, plus one extra Swirl product, like stated above. The Buffer was only $100.

Thanks for the compliment man. I looked at my current pic I have in the voting for ROTM compared to my last attempt at ROTM in August of 08 and it looks like a different car.

I can't wait to get it in. Next step will be the Fog Lights and Chin
