To stripe or not to stripe?

I've got an '06 pony package v6. fire red with a black after market gas cap. silver bullets, all that jazz. I've been considering stripes... I've decided on black, considering everything after-market on my car is black related. A friend told me no stripes, but i'm not so 100% sure I agree with that... I love it the way it is, but i still can't help wondering if i should stripe it.. American Muscle has the stripes I'm looking at. I know paint is the foolproof way to go, but its permenent... are the vinyls really all that bad enough to want to wait for the money to paint? Any help or thoughts appreciated!

The vinyl will crack soon, you can have someone to do a photoshop for you but I do like the stripes on those cars....

I think stripped cars look badass depending on the color of the car.
Do you want two stripes or just one?

I was still deciding on that... there's a double 8" stripe that's an '05 i think in my town and i love it... i'm split on the two 12" stripes or the one 12" stripe with the 2 quarter inch on either side...

The reviews on American Muscle said that the vinyl doesn't crack since its made out of some space age magic vinyl crap... idk what to believe... but that's why you guys are here!

Well it seems like you have your mind set to get stripes. I need new ones since mine are cracking really bad and if I took them off I have a feeling the color would be off a bit and look awful. But just make sure you keep it out of the sun and harsh weather as much as you can. If you keep it in the garage you're alright I'd say. I'm no expert though lol

i like yours. haha well i know vinyl will eventually crack, i'm just wondering how long they last... i keep mine garage kept, but idk how long that will last once i get to college... wherever that is... I'd like to get vinyls until i have enough money to pay for paint, but i'm not sure... I like the way it looks now, but i'd prefer a little more wow factor... I'm a fairly safe/responsible driver so i'm not worried about cops on my butt... also, would black bullets with the stripes be too busy?

black bullITs (lol) would be awesome. I think if you do get stripes, to keep the busy factor down, you'd want to remove the 'mustang' stripes on the side. IMO if a Mustang has both of those it draws the eye to all the stripage and nothing else.

My 2 cents

If you like the way it looks now, then just leave it as is.

Stripe might look good, draw some images on your mind and see how you want to go on about it.

ask around see if someone could photoshop you a pic of your car with stripes.

STRIPE IT!!! Here is a V6 Torch Red and it looks sweet!! Do it!!

Here's the thing...I did the same thing you are thinking of doing. I did vinyl 1st. Within 2 years they looked like crap. AND...my body shop had a bitch of a time removing them!! OMG he just wanted to give me a check for the entire freaking car and crush her ....LOL really frustrating job I had done.

There are 2 ways you can do paint,, just have them painted - less expensive, or have them painted UNDER 2 coats of clear coat-way more$$. Cost varies for that one.. $1400 - $2200. get some estimates.idn I had my body shop do them. Would I have done it differently knowing what I know now? Yeah I would have saved the money for paint. Get them 10" wide for sure

yeah. I do like the stripe look, but it IS my first car, and the only thing not stock is the gas cap and the muffler... i do love mods and all, but once you start doing all this stuff to it, the resale value is horribly depreciated, if in the future i would need to sell my car... I'll have to seriously think about it... jeff has a point with the side stripes... and i would definitely want to wait for the money to paint it... i just dont know at the moment... Thanks guys for all your help!

haha yea the guy that painted it had never done a mustang before so he said that he would do it cheaper than he would normally charge. he usually rebuilds/builds/restores corvettes

I bought a new Ford Probe GTS with factory over the top vinyl stripes in 1997. After 11 years the Vinyl did not crack. I figured it was because I kept the car under a cover most of the time. Not sure what would have happened had I left it out in the Sun all that time though.
