Underbody Paint?

This is strictly a preference kind of thing, but I'm thinking about painting somethings under my car, like the big old rusty driveshaft and rear end. What is the best paint to use, I'd do it in black.

Quite a few people paint their rear end, from what i've seen people use that engine enamel stuff because its really resilient; but idk about painting the drive shaft. Why not just save up for a one piece aluminum ds?

The clean the metal you could use someting as simple as some dawn/water mix or some form of paint prep spray. They may sell something at the auto store.

I would suggest using a etching primer before the black. That way the black has a better surface to catch onto to and it would last longer. The clear will keep the black lasting longer as well, and as 6er said, make it shiny.

Oh ya..........

i was wrong on the type of paint. here is what i used for my axle. also painted v6 wheels. when i did my painting. i took a wire brush to it all. could also use a grinder with wire wheel. wiped it all down with paint thinner then thined paint, added harder then shot it. about a hour it was able lightly handle. over night it was good to go and put back on car (axle) i tryed shooting the axle but didnt work outside in dark. ill include a pic of the wheels too. THIS IS WITH NO CLEAR. you do not need to clear this type paint. it is like older vehicles. its a ONE stage. you shoot it. and leave it. tire pic isnt great but they are as clean as my black saleen wheels i had.

It's something that i've thought about doing before, but it's definately not going to be worth the time.

Don't get me wrong, it bugs the crap out of me too but in my opinion, the fact that no one else will see it makes it a waste of time. I see that you are running out of things to do visually though.
