Interior Lighting

I've been looking around the site for another mod to do and came across some of the interior lighting mods people have done and then remembered that I've already done mine but never got around to putting it up. I'm not finished as I usually change all the interior lights to blue since it makes it so much easier to find things.

My underdash lighting consists of 1 12" ccfl tucked under the dash on either side. Purchased them about 2-3yrs ago and found them when I got the mustang b/c I was getting rid of all the car parts from my previous cars I owned. Out with the old, in with the new.

They are extremely bright, but partly do to the floor mats.

.

Hard wired them to one of the wires that goes to the rest of the accessory lights, so when I open my door they turn on, and I have a separate switch so when the switch so I can turn them on if I drop something and can't find it. The switch is located to the left of the cigarette lighter under the headunit.

I would like to do mine like that. So let me get this straight you split the + lead coming off of the led bar and ran one wire to the dome light fuse and one to a switch? I have mine just wired straight to a switch, but i would like to rewire it like yours so it will come on when i open my doors as well.

both ccfl's run to a inverter, which has the power and ground wire. hooked up the switch and then ran the wire to the one of the wires that powers on when the interior lights come on. I believe it was one behind the headlight switch.

Yes I believe so. It's been a while since I did the wiring but I'm pretty sure that's how I wired it. I used the cigarette lighter as my 12 volt source since I don't smoke and have no need for two in the car. The one right in front of the center console lid is has constant power. The one under the radio has no pwer when the car is off.
