Exterior help

I can't decide on whether to do one of three different things as far as the exterior of my car. I want to either A) Do the stripe thing B) Some really nice looking paint job resembling some sort of vinyl almost C) Go with chrome accessories like hood pins and chrome inserts and such....Any opinions are appreciated, just let me know. Also, keep in mind, i want to use the car for car shows, and not neccessarily domestic car shows, but ones with tuners in them as well.

Yeah good luck with that. That paint is expensive as hell. It's actually like four paint jobs. Each color you see is a different layer of paint.

I say all of the above. I had 2 black 10" racing stripes on my Sonic Blue V6 and loved it. I put them on myself and cost less than $40. A sweet paint job is always a plus. If you are just going to paint it and leave it at that get a candy coated paint job. It's a bit more expensive, but gives your car a show quality shine. As for the chrome, well chrome looks good with everything. You can add that stuff as your budget allows. If your trying to choose a color to paint it Sonic Blue is my fav ford color and Torch red is second. Sonic blue has flakes in it and when it is waxed well it shines like the sun.

To get that changing color effect is not just one paint and you're done. That is a very expensive, time consuming, multi-layer paint job.

The Special Vehicle Team worked with Alan Eggly, Ford’s color and trim director for North America, to develop the Mystichrome paint and leather. Both the exterior and interior treatments utilize ChromaFlair® light interference pigments, from Flex Products, Inc. in Santa Rosa, Calif. These tiny particles (each an average size of 17 microns) are comprised of five layers of colorless film. Combined, these layers produce shimmering, vibrant colors.

The microscopic layers act like a tiny prism: White light is reflected off the core layer, and then split by outer layers into visible colors. As the viewing angle changes, so does the visible color. The color produced is controlled by precise variances—measured in atoms—in the prismatic layers: The thinnest ChromaFlair pigment shifts from gold through silver and into light blue. The thickest pigment shifts from silver through green, and into purplish blue.

yeah I know but you can order it as a kit from ford. They will send your paint shop all the stuff with how to paint the car. I was about to do my car like that. But it is very expensive but for a show car I would say it would be worth it,

2003 COBRA mustang with the PMP roadster front end (05 replica) and true fire (ALL DONE IN Photoshop as a concept proof). Perhaps you can do the same in an art program and see what it looks like before you do it.
I'll bet there are a lot of artistic mustang fans here that would love to do it.

I decided not to add the paintjob and body kit and instead went with the GT1 c pillars from JMS. I decided to keep my car low key...well as low key as a Cobra can be. I decide to invest in my engine instead of cosmetics. It is now at 540HP. good luck-definetly do something. YOU MUST BE UNIQUE- take care-ZOOTOXIN

How did you put on those side scoops? Was there a lot of work to it? Is the window still under there?

Are they from a '05+? I've never seen them for a 99-04 and I looked.

They replace the old c pillar and delete the window that remains underneath. It installs exactly the way the original Ford pillar does with a series of bolted pins. They are speed rated up to 125MPH. I purchased the GT1s from "JMSproductsinc-iron man customs" and are one solid piece of fiberglass with custom inserts. The ones shown on the flame car the CL2s

JMS is out of business for now, not sure if they will come back or not (they really should-they were leaders in customization!). They did the original over head interior console for the mustang that created the cockpit look and also did the original targa top. The website is still up- jmsproductsinc. "abcexclusive sells plastic set fairly cheap :import zx" is working on a set of fiberglass c pillars for distribution. They should be ready to roll in a week or two. Californiamustang has one set of the Retro Style GT2's. good luck- check ebay as well.

That orange Mustang is where I saw them before. He's on myspace.com. I didn't know they took out that entire section. Looks good though.
