Painting Calipers
Alright so during this winter break i'm planning on doing a few visual upgrades to the stang, one of them being repaint my calipers since the paint is chipping away, and everyone does red. Does anyone know how to strip the paint off the calipers? i was thinking some thinner, but if anyone else has a better idea i'd be glad to try it! Also does anyone have a write up on removing the calipers to paint them, last time i did it i only brushed them while leaving them on. this time im just going to remove them and spray them.

hmmm well i did mine and this is how they look exactly, u really dont need to remove them, if your careful. I get asked if mine are factory all the time. U really dont need to remove them, if you get paint on the rotor, it makes no diffrence since after a few hard stops its off anyway. its nice to get the outside of the rotor as well, keeps them from getting that rusted outter look. as far as removing the paint, never had to do that.

If i was going to strip my calipers, i would use this:
That is the type of paint stripper i have used forever, and ive never had a problem, It lifts the paint right off pretty quickly. Just be sure to wash it off thourghly with clean water to remove any residue left. And dont let it set on any plastic,rubber,etc....... only used on metal. I highly doubt thinner will get the paint off unless its a non curing paint on there to begin with.

Thank you!! I used a spray, it normally produces a better factory uniform look, the brush tends to look a little thick.

yep, brett helped me paint mine too. looks factory, took about 15 minutes total, and I love the way mine look. painting the calipers is a great, quick and easy mod that takes minutes, but makes a huge, yet subtle, impact on the looks of the car.
