what i done with these parts was i sanded down the areas with 180 grit. you may think its sorta of aggressive but it will be fine. i thought it was also. scuff it up to get the grain out of the plastic. after thats done spray regular automotive grey primer on it.....no rattle cans. u will need an air spray gun to get the best results. once its primed and dry, take some dry guide coat and spread the powder all over the primed areas. next, take some 400 grit "wet" sanding paper. wet sand the parts until all the guide coat is gone. if ur not familiar with guide coat its basicly made to help u see high and low spots. so sanding it till all the guide coat is gone in theory makes for a smooth surface. after u do all of that...rinse it off real good and use a clean paper towel to wipe the water and sanding dust off. when u are priming you may wanna give it a couple of coats of primer so u have more leeway when u sand it. u dont wanna sand through the primer. after all that time eating work is done ur ready for paint. if ur not comfortable with painting just bring it to a body shop already prepped and taped off so all they have to do is shoot paint on it. shouldnt be expensive since ur doin all the prep work.....everything i mentioned here can be purchased at a decent auto parts place.

hope that helps

Just like TheManInBlack said is the best way to go....I used to paint cars and you either pay attention in school or learn from your mistakes...just don't forget to blow off all the dust from sanding and clean the parts with First klean (it removes grease from you just touching the parts) then after you primer the parts and it's ready for painting you will need final klean to remove all the crap that may have gotten onto your work....dust or any crap on a paint job will make your job look like shit.....so when you spray keep the area as clean as possible.....oh and if you spray, they have a special primers for plastics.....
good luck
