Re-did my door inserts

I have learned alot about paint since I did my Interior, so I decided to redo my door inserts and get them way more glossy. Here are the results:

They look good, but if I were to do the door inserts, i would do the whole oval part instead of just the removable part.

Well, if I had a spray gun/compressor I would build be a booth Lol. The thing that is holding me back is the cost of a compressor powerful enough. The Spray Gun and such is not to expensive. Heck, I could build a pint booth for no more than $200. However a Compressor is like $500+/-

These are the only good before pics I have. The first two are WAY before. Back in 2/09 before I had even really started my interior painting.

As you can see, the reflection is much more noticeable. Back then I did not know about wetsanding each layer after painting it. With the NEW paint I wetsanded each color and clear layer with 2000 girt.

looks great! How durable is the paint? like if you put some change or keys, something like that into the little pocket will it scratch? I want to paint some interior parts on my car (i will refer to your other how to paint threads) but i dont want to end up with something "fragile" if you know what i mean.

Well, since it was down with rattle can it is not the most durable thing in the world. However, if you prep the plastic correctly and use correct paints along with the correct amounts, it will turn out durable.

Best thing is to use Adhesion Promoter, Primer, Color, and Clear. Sanding each coat. Before I re-did this I took my keys to one piece and slammed the pointed end into it. It barely scratched. Granted, it dented it all the way to the primer since even the new paint shows it to some degree, but in that case some change in the holder will not scratch it to bad.

Keep in mind its a PITA to get the paint in that holder area.

If you need any help just check out my old threads like you said or shoot me a PM. Travis up there can help you a ton as well. Probally more than I can hehe.

I didn't get it smooth down there haha. I was able to get it smooth on the singular flat surface heading down and the sides, but thats it.

I need to strip all the paint off my doors and redo them. They see the most traffic and look the most worn. I am thinking some paint thinner and IPA will do the trick since I can't sand but half of it.

Think thinner and IPA will be good to strip the paint off the vinyl? I don't want to dmg the vinyl.
