Interior Help - Shift Knob
Hey all! Nice forum you've got here!
So, I'm painting the a few interior pieces as well as changing all my interior lighting from the stock green (ewwww) to a nice LED blue that matches my HU. I've got everything out that I need except the shifter panel. I need to get that out to get the green film off of it before it will fit into my lighting scheme. The only problem is I can't get the damn automatic shift knob off! I've tried everything. I used every size allen wrench...tried hex wrenches, torx wrenches...everything and I can't get it to loosen up! Any ideas???? Thanks. |

Here's a pic as requested. I'll through some more up later of the interior and the work I'm actually doing to her.
And I also just wanna throw a quick shout out to wraitherx - you're a wealth of knowledge man and I couldn't find what harness I needed for my HU anywhere, so thanks for posting that in about 6 different threads haha.

Thanks, it's all stock right now. This is the first time I've added anything too her and actually the first time I've done any type of modding to a car other than putting some HU's and speakers in past cars of mine. Just working on some cosmetic upgrades for now then in a few weeks here I'll be doing the performance upgrades. I've still got a while before the snow melts and I can take her out of the garage again anyway so yea.
Few more before pics - (obviously this isn't my car because it's yellow lol, forgot to snap a few pics for myself...but this will give a good idea of everything I've done to it when finished.) ![]() ![]() ![]() More pics tonight of the middle of the process! - still working on that stupid shifter btw - |

If it really really won't come off I suppose you could try some PB Blaster on it. I've never used it myself but everyone seemed to recommend it for loosening up bolts that just refuse to budge. Make sure you clean up really well because that stuff won't be good on any plastic/vinyl parts.

Wow you've really got that torn apart bro. Taking out the seats isn't hard and it'll give you a lot more room to work if you happen to be getting uncomfortable with the seats in there. Just wiring up my footwell lights I wanted to take the seats out so I could work under the dash without having to get out of the car
So what all do you have planned for your interior?

Just got my HU installed...looks and sounds sick!
I was thinking about taking those seats out but I figured I'm only in there for a while so I'll just leave them in. Most of my work is being done inside then I just run out to install it. And Vita...I'm only a few hours from you, I live in Duluth. My plans for the interior are things that you all have seen quite a bit from what I've seen on the forums...but there's a few things I wanna do eventually that I haven't seen yet. Interior:
Exterior: Not much here...been thinking about maybe adding a single strip on the hood in the area of the hood scoop, and for sure will be getting new headlights and fog lights. Oh and definitely some rims. Performance:
Basically any and all things that will increase performance will be getting replaced. Things I've already done/are in progress now are: The lighting scheme change, the interior paint, the interior LED's, and the new HU. - I've got my whole console and the shift, radio, and door pull bezels in my basement right now ready for paint. Then I removed the gauge cluster, climate controls, and shifter panel (P.R.N.D.1.2) and those are upstairs being completely re-wired to fit the new blue LED's This is quite a big project...especially for someone that's never modified any vehicle...but I think it's going real well so far. |

Sounds like you got your work cut out for you bro but you seem to be getting along just fine. If you need any help with paint I'm sure Zatrekaz could be of assistance. He's done an amazing job in his car with rattle cans. And I recommend wiring your footwell lights to a switch. When you pull up to another Mustang, they feel a little ricerish but for daily driving they can be useful (especially if you drop stuff my my girlfriend does).

Yea, I had em hooked up to a switch...but just now I had an idea for a different use for them.
Originally I was going to use single directional LED's wired into my gauge cluster to light it that way. But I wasn't liking how the lighting was turning out then I got the bright idea to use the footwell LED's since I'd gotten the high end "tape" LED's. Surprisingly they work amazingly. I'll snap a few pics of the setup before I put the cluster back together and in my stang. |

ok, so quick question...
What I'm doing to power the LED's in the gauge cluster is just taking the stock lights out of the little casing thing they're in then wiring the LED wires into that. My question is....would I be able to wire all the LED's together then into just one of these? Or do I need to wired them all up to their own casing thing? |

I think you should be able to wire them all together seeing as how they all come on at the same time.
