2 parter...
I have two questions here...
I just recently wet sanded my headlights and third break light. I took my stock wing off to make it easier to do the taillight. Question 1 what do y'all think of the wing off? ON... ![]() OFF.. ![]() ![]() ![]() Question 2. When I took the wing off it left "gunk", which i wiped off. (I have read every thread I can on this but there to old so no pics or there not exactly what's wrong with mine). First off there is water in the wing, I can hear it sloshing around..problem one. Problem 2 the paint is gross.... ![]() ![]() 2nd pic is way worse. I tried wet sanding but got know where. All those little bumps. I can't tell if its some form of overspray or the paint is coming up... So my question is what is the best way to get the oval rings and bubbles out that I can do myself? I have touch up paint, polishing compound, 2000 grit sand paper, wax, etc to work with. (i know this has been asked before but i havn't seen it this bad) Also I put the wing back on cuz im not driving around with the paint like that ( I get the hole plug the hole thing so i'm not asking bout that)

I like the wing off but I don't. With it off it gives it a Bullitt sort of feel but then I also think it feels incomplete.

My paint is worse that that around my wing. I have a black car and the paint is white with rust in it....
Also, Modded mustangs and fast fords did an article in june of 09 about wetsanding and polishing the paint back if it left orange peel. I think that could be easily fixed for under 15 bucks (if you already have a rotary buffer) |

Keep the wing on. And #2, try some claybar.

True, true... Thanks for the input! I just wanna get that paint fixed before I decide what to do. I'll probably tape off the surrounding area and take some rubbing compound to it and take it from there, not much else I can do.

I cant decide anymore if I like the wing on or off. They both look good to me.
As for the marks left by the spoiler, should come off with some claybar and polishing. Might need to use an aggressive compound if the claybar and normal compond wont get it off. You might consider getting a RED clay magic claybar. It is a more aggressive clay than normal. You will have to buff after using the red claybar. Im suprised the wet sanding did nothing. Where you using some a block or pad of some sort, or was it just the paper in your hand? Sometimes it is alot easier to sand something like that off if you use a block. The bubbles, im at a loss without seeing them in person. Ive never seen anything like that on a SMC part. It is definitely something under the basecoat because they are blue. So if you sand them down whatever is "inside" that bump will determine the color of the spot when your done. So say if those are black dirt specs and you sand them down, you will have a bunch of smooth black circles in your paint. Has your decklid ever been repaired or repainted. It just doesnt look like something from the factory.

Is that True Blue? With the wing removed, your wheels and brushed gas cap make it look like an 01 BULLITT.

Yup its true blue, if it looks like a bullitt im down with that
. No its never been painted besides from the factory. I did the wet sand with my hand and 2000 grit paper, i didn't want to put it on the drill, but since it didn't even work on the oval stains, I deff need something stronger. I did try some polishing with scratch remover on the drill and that did nothing either. I'm going to try again today if it doesn't rain.
