smoked headlights

hello! im a long time reader, first time poster! ive searched around the thread about smoked headlights and have learned a lot about hid's and visibililty and such about them thanks to yall so now im trying to piece all the info together for my pony and im hoping to get some advice/help

basically, my headlights are in real need of replacement (never been replaced before, ill just put it that way lol) and ive seen pics on how smoked headlights look and . i got a 04 silver mustang and im debating on buying the dark smoked headlights from am...

or trying to save some money and just getting stock headlights and buying a pair of those covers...

or getting a pair of smoked projectors...

another thing also, is that ive read about hids and how great visibility we can get but i think i remember also reading that hids dont really work well with stock headlights bc of the way the light compartment is made in the oem headlights...so obviously i want darkened headlights but i still want to see in front of me lol however if someone could recommend me the best light to get that would be great too!

anywho, thanks for any advice/help!

okay...

1. if you replace headlights, smoked are the shit...
2. if you use smoked you'll want HIDs
3. projectors look like a joke on our cars...no matter how fast you are they still look like a joke
4. i have stock housing and HIDs...and the light pattern is great with no problem

edit:
so far i'm in love with DDMTuning.com on HIDs

You will want this for HIDs:
  • Bulb: 9007
  • If you want your High and Low beams you will need the Bi-Xenon. Just make sure the kit mentions something about keeping your Highs and Lows.
  • The site 6er linked seems like a great price on HIDs.

As for the Ebay headlights... Some people have said they are fine. However I had a pair and they were trouble. Had a serious moisture issue. Even after I used silicon and sealed them, they still had issues. I bought a pair from AM and never looked back.

EDIT: 6er, have you gotten an HID kit from that site? A HID kit for my fogs is only $50 and thats a steal... I might get them soon since my new fogs will have regulaur bulbs and HIDs + Reg bulbs look tacky. Heck, the larger ballast version is only $30... jeez. Makes me worry about how good the quality is tho?

yea so far it seems like every part ive wondered about when it comes to ebay seems to be pretty crappy. i guess you really do get what u pay for lol. so if i want high and low beams i need to get a bi xenon...damn...im not sure i saw those on the ddm site? or do u guys just use the hid bulbs for high and low at the same time?

--i dont have any fog lights on my pony...yet

Our cars use a 9007 Bulb. The 9007 bulb is a "dual filiment". This means it has High and Low beams all in one bulb.. it simply lights up one filiment or the other.

On the DDM website you want the "9007 Hi/Lo (+$20.00)"

This will give you High and Low beams out of the same bulb. Its more expensive, and some people say you don't even need the High beams with HIDs. However if you go to get an inspection sticker and they ask to see your highs, you got it covered.
