Wax on, Wax off

Had an idea...
While cleaning my engine bat today I noticed that the paint in there is looking REALLY faded. Its almost down to the primer in spots.
So it needs some paint... now theres no way I can afford to have the engine removed and a real paint shop hit the engine bay. I don't even want to think about how much that would be. So, my idea is to do it myself with some rattle can. My idea is to take everything out from the sides that I can, easily. Tape/cover off what I can not get out, and go to town. I would not be worried about a perfect gloss finish, so the only sanding would be the prep and primer. I would not be chaning the color, so the areas I can not get to will not be that noticeable. Sound like a good idea? I know it will not be GREAT looking, but it will be better than seriously faded red.

Sure, my friend did it with spray can truck bed liner, and it came out great. I dont know if he even used primer, but the bed liner is stickier/textured anyway

That makes sense with the bed liner to give it some protection, but I will stay away from that and just do color hehe.
It wouldn't cost much... some sandpaper, tape, newspaper, primer, color, and clear.

Use tinfoil to cover some things up makes it easy to wrap and it stays put!

Good idea Z, cant hurt. Its not like youll make it look any worse lol.
Use red scotch brite for the sanding. It will make it sooooooo much easier than using sandpaper scuffing that stuff up.
