Interior trim painting question

Well tomorrow seems like I am going to paint my interior trim. I am going to paint it a dark blue and will post pics when its done. So I went out to buy my supplies. Just want some opinions from people who have done this. I got 220 grit sand paper, Krylon true blue gloss spray paint, and Krylon crystal clear gloss clear coat spray paint. Well I realized I forgot the primer. But I was wondering how important is the primer? Could I get away with sanding the pieces extra good and doing 2-4 coats of color and 2 coats of clear? Or should I just run to the bank extra early and buy primer? Should I try it without the primer and see how it goes? Thanks all.

220 grit is way to rough for this, and you need more than just one grit of sandpaper. The furthest down I would go with plastic would be 320, but you can get away with 400grit.

The primer is not nessecary, but provides you with a very good smooth layer to get a high gloss out of. You would benifit from some Adhesion Promoter as well. The krylon fusion will help attach to the plastic, but you can never have to much adhesion.

I sent you a PM with a link to the write up I made.
