Blackout
Ok, I just bought this 5 peice kit to install. Is there any write up someone can do for me or send me a link to? Is it worth it to pay a shop a little more to get them installed or is this an easy task I can do at home?
Here is the website... https://www.rockymountaingraphics.co...&search=&page=

Spray bottle with water and a little dish soap, spray, apply decal, squeegie it from the center out. Keep checking on it making sure bubbles dont form.

I warn you... this is hard to apply. Theres no transfer tape and its a very sharp edges location. Take your time and have everything ready before you start.
Get you a spray bottle and fill it with water. Put about 3-4 drops of dish soap in it and shake it up. Clean the area to apply the vinyl with it (spray, wipe, dry). Then spray it again leaving it wet. Apply your vinyl while the area is still wet. Make sure it is RIGHT were you want it before applying a lot of pressure. Use a credit card to push the bubbles that from out. Do not try and move it once you have it in place for a hour or so.

Some kits come with the squeegie, depending on what and where you buy it. The ones for my lights came with one. Those might too, but yea a credit card works great too.

Yea those kits are a complete waste of fucking money.
Go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy yourself some Industrial semi flat black Rustoleum spray paint and tape everything off and go to town. I can say this cause I wasted the money on one of those rocky mountain graphics kit and the damn thing is sooo thin, scratches after the first wash and just doesnt look right Heres a pic of mine. It is cost 7 bucks to do also did the spoiler

Oh and to add to the decal being crap
They dont wrap the sharp edge of the trunk right. They dont cover EVERYTHING so you'll still be able to see some body colors when you get close and look in the cracks Paint covers all this. Pain free

Probly. Go check. im being honest with you its a much better route.
6er w/ avengence or whatever did it too. Scuff it up with a grey scotch bright pad, take off the emblems tape it off real good and coat even. Make sure you get good paint tho not the cheap gloss that will fade. Get the industrial strength Rustoleum or something to that effect.

I don't want to sound stupid but Zat always tells me to scuff shit up... I'll be honest, I have not clue what scuffing is...
Like something rough the paint will stick to? How much do you "scuff" it up?

One of these
![]() You can buy em at Lowes when you get the paint. Use it like a piece of sand paper and scuff the surface basically just sand the paint on your car till its not shinny anymore then your good. Do it to the truck lid obviously where you want to paint. Then take you tape, tape off the section you want to paint and add paper around it so you dont get overspray on your car obviously. Then take a spray bottle and pour a couple onces of rubbing alcohol in it and fill the rest with water. Spray down the surface you scuffed and wipe clean and dry with a lint free towel. Take a tack rag and run it back over the surface to get all left over dirt off. Stand back and paint the area with good strokes. One real light coat that you can still see through to give the rest of the paint a good base to stick to. Then apply another coat that you cant see through, Let dry for 10 minutes or so and re coat one more time. More is not better 3 coats is FINE. Then peel your paper and tape off let dry. Put new double sided tape on your emblems, stick them back on and you've got a blacked out trunk

I painted mine as well. I just used some Dupli-Color paint. Primer, Gloss Black, and Clear.
The kits are a waste. I had a flat black on for a long time, but it showed some of the body color like Drick said.
