Difference between Deep Dish and regular wheels

I've been looking for new wheels to replace my 20" Dip D65s and have seen a few wheels that say they are deep dish.

What is a deep dish wheel and how does it differ from a regular wheel? Are there any pros and/or cons to having a deep dish wheel as opposed to a regular wheel?

I believe I have found the answer to my first question. A deep dish wheel appears to have a larger "lip" than a regular wheel.

Is this the only difference? Is it purely visual or is there some functional difference caused by the extra lip?

it's purely cosmetic.

As far as I know, deep dish only means that it has a bigger lip, or a "deeper dish"

why do you wanna replace your rims already?

Because 2 of my rims (left front and right rear) have already warped and cracked where the lip turns down.

I was traveling in New Orleans last week when this happened. I had to purchase a steel rim and tire just so I could make it back home. The guys at the tire shop looked at my busted rims and told me it was a manufacturing defect, especially since they were on opposite sides of the car.

The guy that sold me the rims is currently communicating with the manufacturer in regards to getting me a refund. Regardless, there is no way that I am going to continue to ride on these rims any longer than I have to.

I will put up pictures later tonight.

here are a pic of my summer wheels. Like everyone said the only difference is cosmetic.

The only downfall to my rims is that they need wiped on the inside lip every other day because this is where the brake dust collects and more of it is exposed. I personally dont mind wiping my rims off regularly and most likely would treat whatever rims I had, deep dish or not, the same way. I like my car clean in and out.
