Prep For Tinting Tail Lights/Side Markers?

Should I sand the plastic at all before starting in the with tint? Obviously I'll pull the tail lights off the car and tape off the side markers very well, but aside from that (and a good cleaning) what else should I do for prep?

I know there's a good guide out there on the 3.8 forums (or a similar looking one) but I can't find it now that I need it

Yes, you need to at least scuff the surface. If you don't, the paint will flake off later.

I guess that's a good question and a bad assumption on my part. The OP needs to clarify what he's doing.

You can spray tint headlights/tail lights/side markers a couple ways. The easiest and most common is to use VHT NiteShade. It comes in a rattle can. Another way is to mix 80% clear with 20% black and use a spray gun. This requires painting materials which most people don't have.

Tinting is nice, but you cant make it any way "custom" for the shade. I have my tails tinted darker than any tint kit allows. I used niteshade, super easy and there are plenty of write ups online to find.

VHT makes a product called Nite Shades. It's used for tinting things like brake lights. Essentially tint in a can. I wouldn't attempt to use it on a window though. I think Rustoleum makes their own version of it too. VHT is known to work well, I don't know that I'd try Rustoleum.

My bad, I'm using VHT Nite Shades.

I know there was an awesome write-up on (I think) the 3.8 forums. I did a search for it the other day and came up empty handed though
