Different sized wheels between front and back?
Since I have started looking for new wheels a lot of people have been suggesting getting an 8" or 9" wheel in the front and a 10" wheel in the back.
Looking through a few wheel threads here on MM I have noticed that suggestion also appear a few times. Is this strictly for cosmetics to make the car look more aggressive or does it have an actual performance benefit? Is there a general rule regarding how much of a difference the wheels can be? For example, one person told me 8s in the front and 10s in the back would be very dramatic. Another person told me that was too much of a difference and that I should stay within an 1" difference between the front and back. Can anyone clarify whether there is a limit or general rule and what the ramifications are if that rule was exceeded? |

as far as i know, there's no thumb rule or anything. i'd say the difference is mostly cosmetic, although having a wider wheel/tire combo out back will give you a wider contact patch. and it looks bad-ass

I am getting 9 in front and 10.5 in back or 8 in front and 9 in back, the only downside is you can't rotate your tires.

yeah so switching sides won't really affect much.

If anything, having thinner fronts and thicker rears will increase understeer a bit.
Only really a concern if you are driving into corners aggressively, which if you drive a stang, doesn't really apply! lol jk

yeah it is true, but wouldn't you still notice the understeer? or well I am guess they took that into consideration lol. I am way to tired to be thinking right now.

lol...
I'm tired too. F-in vicodin. :wink Unless you're pushing the car to its limits, or trying to turn in the rain, you probably wouldn't feel too much more understeer with staggered wheel sizes anyway. Plus, yeah...it will look cooler.
