The reason you don't use paint stripper on plastic

Pics later, but I fucked up my driver side mirror realllly bad. Beyond repair, so i had to order a new one. Do NOT use paint stripper on plastic.

At least this way I will have a 100% clean slate to paint. The passenger side came out ok, but not perfect. Surprisingly it turned out better without clear coat or wetsanding the last coat. The Krylon clear made it bubble up... It was dry and its the same kind of paint. No idea... I just left it with no clear and no wetsanding. It came out perfectly reflective.

I wonder if having no clear on it will affect its durability?

I'm not sure how long that paint would last without the clearcoat. I striped a car with spray cans about 14 years ago and didn't clearcoat the stripes. The paint would turn chalky looking in a matter of weeks if I got lazy and didn't keep up with the polishing and waxing.

You might be OK with more modern paint not needing clearcoated. Then again, as meticulous as you are with detailing, you probably wouldn't ever see any chalkiness anyway.

ive ben doing pro body paint for yrs and somtimes....shit happens....we learn from trial and error....as for the bubbled up paint....somtimes you can clear coat it right away and somtimes you have to wait a day or 2.
the chemicals had a negative reaction with each other due to the flashtime.
Its where the chemical in the base coat has not cured all the way and when you spray your clear on the top of it it reacts just like pain stripper on plastic.
