Building my repaint shopping list...

So I'm gonna go for repainting the car myself (at some point).. so I'm gonna start building up the supplies I need, and probably buy a large body piece with good paint to practice on before I do my whole car..

Since my paint and body is in good shape I only need to sand the clear, prime and paint.. so those of you 'in the know' help me build my shopping list.

1. Compressor (check)
2. Spray Gun - got a good recommendation from Travis on this
3. Sander
4. sanding pads/paper? What grit to use on what?
5. primer, what type?
6. Paint.. duh
7. Clear, Flex Clear for bumpers
8. Tape and masking paper

Am I missing anything? Also I'm going to change the color, still yellow but maybe brighter and/or metallic.. what' the best way to do the inner engine bay, doors & trunk area without completely disassembling the car?

Let me know what Compressor/Gun combo you use. The thing I always found that limited me was the compressor. I can find good prices guns but the compressors to run these HVLP guns are so fucking expensive...

So ya, what will you be using for that?

Btw... the engine bay, you can cover up as much as possible and spray what you can reach. The only REAL way to paint that is to remove the engine.

Door Jabs. I would but some rolls of paper, open the door, cover the entrance into the car, and cover anything you don't want painted on the door and paint it with the door open... if that makes sense.

Only thing I didn't see was a water seperator to keep the water out? Make sure you buy the good tape and paper so you don't get any bleed thru.

Thanks guys.. there's a Baps near me, they sell all the good stuff (like tape, paper etc..)..

On the compressor I need to do some research, from what I was reading it's about maintaining the right PSI.. and it's not that high, my DeWalt goes well over.. I think I just need to make sure it doesn't drop in the middle of a pass...
