Question

Paint Work Cost

How much does it cost to paint a 2000 Mustang GT and to have the trunk de-winged?

Pretty much Im looking at a nice simple black was thinking 3 layers of black 3 layers of clear coat.

I figured around 2000. There is a ford mechanic/body/paint shop near my house would a ford paint shop be a good place or should i look for a private owned body shop?

thanks
John

Ford if you want an exact match of a Ford color, and probably a better guarantee of the work.

A local dealer if you want a negotiable price, they'll also be better about your special requests if you have any.

You don't have to go to a Ford body shop to get a match on your Ford paint. Simply give the body shop your paint code and they will order the paint.

Just go around to your local shops and get quotes.

Maybe the shops in your area are better about it, but here I tried to get a match for my Amazon/Tropic and the paint seemed to be a nice match but can tell it's not exact.

ur cars also 10 years old. color fades over that time. usually its not always an exact match. especially on a color like urs. the reason for blending. either u pay more for it because it uses more paint and clear or the shop u took it too sucks.

2 grand does seem bad. might change by 500 bucks or so. depends also if ur sticking with the same color or not so if u will have to have the jams done or not. if they have to do the jams probably 3 grand for a good paint job. the color code can be matched anywhere. ur price will depend on how well of a job u want. thats all

Around here its $2200 but that does not included the engine bay.

The problem is, most shops only give a 2-5 year warranty. You CAN find out that has lifetime warranties - like mine. Your insurance company would know the high end body and paint shops.
