projector headlights for HID's on 95 GT vert

We recently got a 95 GT and I am going to do HID's. I would like to do it correctly and put them in projectors, but I think projectors in general look like ass on this body style.

does anyone have or has seen these installed? pics would be amazing. What are the opinions out there on this topic and how these look? I think these may actually look semi decent with the body style.

I would do some black clear corners to match the look.

The only problem I see in general is this is a red vert with white interior and top.

I kinda did that.... mind you mine is an 02... so my body is a bit differant. I wanted GOODHID Projectors so I bought a set of cheap aftermarket lights with projectors in them. baked them apart and replaced the projectors inside them with a set out of an acura TL. and to avoid the ugly of the lights I used VHT NightShades to tint the lenses. with my 55W 6500K HIDs the light is still WAY brighter than my High beams which are the standard halogen pieces....

I may do this as well, I scoured the interwebs and found a red SN95 with these headlights installed and it looks ten times better than the one piece projectors Ive seen everywhere else. How difficult was fitting the TL projector in the aftermarket housing?

This guys mustang actually looks pretty damn good with these headlights and gives me hopes that projectors can look nice and not... rice. lol

that link doesn't work for me, and aren't the ones on American Muscle one piece?

why do you have such a big issue with aftermarket projectors? ive seen shitty aftermarket projectors(the actual beam on the road) and they look no worse then brand new oem beams

The main issue i have is they are usually overdone with LED's and Halos and don't always compliment the OEM look. I believe you walk a fine line with putting cheap parts on an American muscle car.

As far as performance. which I believe is what you are referring to, I won't even know until I install them. There is a science behind projected optics and how they distribute light with a proper cutoff in order to not blind the hell out of people.

No problems, i just want to do it right and have it styled to compliment an American car not originally designed for it.

well buying a housing with a projector in it and swapping the projector out for the same thing isnt going to solve anything. its not going to get rid of the halos or leds(that i will agree look tacky as all hell) and your not going to see a difference in projected light quality or cutoff.

That's why I'm looking at the projectors in my original post, no LEDS or Halos.

MX, do you know what your talking about? im not trying to bash you, but do you really?? let me type out my situation and why I solved it like I did with the TL projectors...

I wanted HID lights, but didn't want to blind people with the scattered light that you normally get after putting them in factory halogen housings. so I found a set of basic black aftermarket headlights that had a projector for the low beams, halogen fro the high beams and had no leds, halos or any such other crap.... cool, snapped them up for about a hundred bucks and got a HID kit (6500K 55w from DDMtuning.com) and got everything installed. light output was easily double that of my factory lights. issue i had with the cheap projectors was the cut off. on one side the cutoff was red tinted and the other was blue. this is caused by the distance from the projector lens from the shield. another issue I had was the cutoff quality was off. they were blurry a bit. still decent cutoff, but rather than being a definite sharp line from the bottom to the top (bottom being light projected top being no light thanks to the shield). this needed to be addressed by the distance from the shield to the bulb... see there are a lot of little changes that have to be made, and it seems to be a mad science to get everything just right...

So I did a lot of research on line and found that the TL projectors are really good units and fairly decently priced. after having baked my lenses apart a few times trying to adjust the projectors in them I knew that it would be a simple swap where I just needed to make a new metal bracket for the projector to fit in and mount in inside the housings I had. took maybe an hour per side to get everything like I wanted once I got everything I needed and actually started.

So now i have lights that are a lot brighter than stock, whiter slightly bluish tinted light output and nice razor sharp cutoff's that are a nice band of blue.

So yes. Yes you will get improved out put with better projectors than you will with the ones that come in the aftermarket lights. Im also running DS2 bulbs now rather than retrofit H3 or 9007 so I can get higher quality bulbs.

Picture gallery..... HID in normal NON-projector halogen housing... no cut off, scattered light that will blind oncoming drivers...

halogen lights in halogen projectors... note the cutoff line color and the blurry aspect to it....

Halogen projectors with HID lights in them. notice some light escapes above the cutoff....

Hid projectors with HID bulbs... notice the nice clean cut off and the even blue coloring t the cut off line?

that last shot is basically what my lights look like now with the exception that I have even flat shields so I dont have that step up half way across the light.

@ R3dFyre02, Thank you for the detail and educated rebuttal. I learned a little more too.

Where did you get your TL projectors and how much did you pay?... if you don't mind me asking.

no problem. I never have a problem explaining somethig if some one is truley trying to learn...

as to where I got my TL projectors, it was off ebay and I believe I paid about 150 for the pair. Next up, Im getting a set of Clear lenses rather than the frosted "Fresnel" lenses I have. Makes for just a bit better color output.

yea dude, I just found some acura TSX's for $150. found some great websites about HID conversions.

Since these are designed to split the high/low beams between the projector and reflector, I will just get a single xenon projector....

Or if I could fit a bi-xenon, I could have double high beams

dont get carried away and run double high beams... I doubt thte plastic lens could handle the heat from that and would probably melt or at least distort on you.... and your going to have slight issues with fitting the projector into the housing and still getting it ti seal up in the back Im betting.... My projector stuck out the back and I had to get a piece of rubber and silicone glue it to the housing to cover it.
