Restoring Rims

so I can't afford to buy new rims, which makes me very sad...so I thought the best I could do is at least make my stock rims look nicer if possible. I think they've never really been taking care of and so they dont look great.
Is there anything I can do to them to make them nicer? like buffing or something...but for rims...polishing?

are they chrome, black, polished aluminum w/clear coat, polished aluminum w/out clear coat, or painted?

Put up pictures. That's far easier than you trying to explain it for the next ten posts. LOL

Best and quickest way to clean em.
1. Sand blaster
2. filler primer
3. Then Powder coat em

Just Kidding

The best thing I can think of is to take each one off, thouroughly clean it and wax it. Get a Mother's Powerball and buff it the best you can. If cleaned properly they should look pretty good. After you put the wax on, don't use any of those wheel cleaner sprays. They eat at your finish.

what's a Mother's Powerball?
and when I take them off to clean, do I have to actually take the tire off the rim or can I still buff it with the tire on there?
