Clean Engine

How do you get your engine so clean and shiny like in the magazines? Is it just washing it with a rag and degreaser and then an ass load of Armor All?

you have to keep at it , just like you do the outside paint and molding.
wait one day till your bored as shit and just start taking little parts off and cleaning them, and keep it that way. Easier said then done huh?

It depends on where you're starting from... some of those cars are disassembled, all the rubber replaced, and every piece is detailed - cleaned, polished, chromed, painted, or powder coated, as applicable to the part in question. Shooting 2 cans of degreaser into what you can see in the engine and then rinsing it, is not going to get everything. Once you get all the grime out and get it clean, then regular washing will keep it that way. Also not driving it in the rain or when it's wet, or dusty, helps keep it clean.

I am in the process of detailing mine about half-way. I am not going to pull the engine though, or the A/C, power steering, brakes, etc... unless the brake fluid looks old, that is... I haven't checked yet. But mine's a 96, and looks like someone sprayed lube grease from underneath about 4 years ago...

understood... just wanted to clear up any delusions you may have had about the magic abilities of engine degreaser ;-) It's good for cleaning what you can see though.
