HID's not bright?

Okay so i installed my DDMtuning 35w 5k single beam HIDs into my AM smoked lenses and wasnt impressed with my light output, i know the headlights are smoked but i just expected more out of my HID's since they were 5k and everything. So whats the best thing i can do besides retrofit(cant afford it now) to make these brighter? Upgrade to 55w and get hi/lo beam? I know HIDs pretty well but this just has me confused, thanks guys

Besides retrofitting, about the only things you can do are get 55W and/or get clear headlights.

Doing a proper retrofit would make things appear a lot brighter.

see i looooove my headlightsbecause they go with the blackout theme of my car, but im about to because i cant see anything at night so would the 01-04 style be good with a 55w 5k kit? COuld i see better with that one or would the difference not be worth the trouble

I have both the Raxioms and the OEMS, so I've been shopping around for retrofitters who will install the Morimoto projectors. Two of the three retrofitters found on theretrofitsource dot com recommend staying away from the smoked covers, which the raxioms have. I also went to the aftermarket HID system only ($116.00 on ebay) and was sorely disappointed. I'm still trying to decide whether to buy the complete HID kit and try to install it myself, or pay someone else to install them and the cost goes up to $750 - $950.00. The HID kits run less that $300.00, but the retrofitters provide turnkey kits and have done lots of mustangs. I'm leaning towards having this job done by someone else.

even with 55w's i hated smoked headlights and traded some guy for some stockers at a gas station one night lol...but if you really want to keep the current headlights i'd upgrade to 55w and deal with it being about as bright as standard halogens at night lol
