So tinting my stock tails and im wondering

if i should have my local tint shop put the tint on. i was doing some research on the stuff we can get from AM and its just a film, so why couldn't they do it and have it under some sort of warranty? any thoughts? i know alot of you used the spray but i do not have the confidence in my paint ability to do it and sand it, buff it and still have it look good haha.

I sprayed my tails and I've never done anything like that before. Also I didnt do any sanding or buffing and to me they look fine.

I have both my heads and tails tinted. Hasn't peeled or bubbled. The guy took forever to do the tails tho but they look great. Make sure they offer some kind of warranty tho for sure! No good pics of my tails..

PS: I have an extra set of tails if you are interested in attempting to paint a set. I'd be willing to let them go for what I paid for them plus shipping.

looks good man, have you had them out in the sun a long time? what ive "read" here is if you do it and dont sand or buff they fade quick. Just curious

The place I went to had a specific film for the lights, it wasn't normal window tint.

Thanks, BTW!

They've been done since January and they still look the same as the day I sprayed them. I never heard that though ill have to keep checking them to see if it happens.

Here are mine sprayed (lightly) after a year

That was just the VHT. No clear, no sanding, no buffing, no polishing (wanted them more satin to match the blackout panel). I recommend spraying them. Just build up layers until you have them as dark as you want them then clear, buff, polish, wax. And this was 1 year before (shortly after they'd been sprayed and dried)

Only difference is that they're kind of dirty in the 1 year later pic

I got tired of them being that light and went darker but decided to use clear, buff, polish, and wax this time

I did mine with VHT, 3 coats with spray then 3 coats of clear, they came out super glossy without sanding or anything.
They look pretty dark here but have great light output even with just the driving lights on at night

Just tinted my tails today with the VHT Night Shades. They have a sale at Advanced Auto for $10 instead of $16. Just don't accidentaly use Acetone like I did to clean them!!! It helps to pay attention when you have multiple products of the same brand. Luckily I had a 2nd set handy! They turned out really good just make sure you shake the can a LOT! The first tint pic is the first coat. I wanted mine darker but you can stop after the first coat.

They'll cost about the same if you do it yourself. It really just depends on which method you'd prefer
