CHEAP VISUAL MODS

Ive searched around and i havent found a list of a lot of the cheap visual mods in one thread so i figured i do a quick write up.

PLASTI DIP
Plasti dip is a durable rubber coating that is available in a spray can. It comes in multiple colors, including yellow, white, red, blue, black, and you can even make a custom color with the create-a-color kit. All colors are flat finish, but a plasti dip clear is now available.

Uses:
This can be used on any low friction part, such as emblems, dashboard parts, and most popular, wheels. Very durable in temperatures from -30 degrees F to 200 degrees F.

How to Apply:
Wash the part, dry it, then spray 3-4 coats of the plasti dip. I allow about 30-40 min between coats. Dries to the touch in an hour. Takes 2-3 days to cure completely.

VHT NIGHTSHADES
VHT Nightshades is a tinting product that comes in a spray can. Since it has kind of a flat finish, a clearcoat is needed so it has a nice glossy finish.

Uses:
Headlights, foglights, tailights, and turn signals. I dont recomend using it on windows. Ive heard it comes out looking cheap and patchy. But looks great on the parts above.

How to Apply:
You do not have to remove the lights and signals to apply, but if you prefer to then you can.
Start by washing and drying the part. Next, wet sand with fine sand paper. After that, i wash again to remove any remaining particles from the sanding. Next, apply 3 light coats of VHT leaving about 45 min between coats (very important not to over-tint, especially on headlights). After the three coats, leave about 30 min then apply 2-3 light coats of clearcoat leaving 10 min between coats (check on the VHT spray can or the website to make sure the clearcoat is compatible with the VHT to prevent a milky finish). Dries to touch in an hour. Cures completely in 1-2 days.

SPRAY PAINT
This is just your average spray paint. There has been many threads and write ups on spray painting parts so i wont say much about it on here. Just throwing it out there since its cheap and works fine. Though I would suggest either duplicolor or an automotive paint, not just the cheapest kind.

Plasti dip is $5-$10 a can. VHT is $10 a can. Duplicolor Clearcoat is $6 a can. Spray paint is about $10 a can. You can really change and improve the look of your mustang for under $50. Done right, it looks just as good as a factory product and it takes basically no car know-how. Just even coats and proper care and itll look like a new car.

I have personally used all of these products on my stang with great success. I recomend them to anyone.

Please add anything that i missed.

I'll add a easy and free mod if you have a grinder handy. Shorty antennas. Don't buy one, make one. This is how I do it. 1.Take your antennae off the car 2. Take a small cresent wrench and adjust it down to where it fits on the small end of the shaft right up against the ball. Slide it up and down hitting the ball end with some force, you will eventualy knock the ball off.3. Shorting the antennae do the desired length using a grinder or chop saw or recpricating saw or however you choose.4. Using a grinder tour going to have to make about 1/8 inch of the edge smaller in diameter to get the ball back on. 5. Glue the ball back on using a quality glue such as gorrilla glue or super glue. I have always used super glue.6 repaint your finished peice with gloss black paint and reinstall.
