Paint shift knob?

Right now i have the mach 1 shift knob, got a good deal on it. But it kind of clashes with the rest of my interior, which is tan. Is there any way i can paint it black and it would actually look good? Anybody ever done it before and came out with good results and some pics? Thanks!

I'm sure with good prep and lots of clear, it'd hold pretty well. i mean shift knobs get a lot of wear, so LOTS of clear, and expect to have to redo it eventually lol.

As stated, use LOTS of clear. Don't lay it on super thick, build up many thin layers. And all the touching will wear it down where contact is made so it will need to be repainted eventually. Also, consider using a self etching primer.

also.. keep in mind that sometimes (possibly depending on the clear?) a painted surface will feel odd in your hand... Like sticky almost...

yeah we will have to see hot it goes. if it doesn't work out, will i just be able to sand it off and get it back to the way it was, or will it be ruined?

they're might be sanding marks in the knob (like a foggy, dull appearance and not shiny) but this is how mine is anyway from normal use. and if it scratches bad, you could always just buff with some metal polish.
