interior

i want to paint the inside of my car. Everyone says to use dupicolor.
I have read about how to do this type of stuff. Does anyone no if this really works good or does it just smear or smugge when it gets hot in your car. Also does anyone have any tips or a better way to do this.

Well I've heard it go both ways, some people say it turns out real good, others say it just fucks it all up and to get it professionally done. I' ve been wanting to do it but I'm scared to because of the bad stuff I've heard...

here's a good article that explains how to do it:

http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/...eriorpaint.htm

I'm pretty damn sure it wouldn't smear or smudge when it gets hot in your car though. Your stock interior is painted, does that smear?

I don't think it's ricey at all. well I guess it could be if you too far with it and paint everything a different color and shit...
but if you match the exterior of your car, it should look primo.

and yeah sorry, I don't know what paint the pros use...I'll wait and hope for someone else to ask that.

i'm planning on painting my interior trim, too. i tried to find my color in duplicolor, but they don't make my car color. but i did manage to find an auto paint supply place that sell everything i need, and it's the actual factory paint. for people who don't have access to a paint gun or air compressor or whatever, they carry aerosol cans that screw onto the paint jars they sell. instant paint gun. i would look in the phone book or yellowpages.com under auto body paint supply and see what you come up with, then go talk to the guys that work there about your project. i'm sure the can help you out with everything you need.

I would use SEM personally. I have used it and never had any problems with it.

dude where the fuck do you live...you can't survive in 50 degrees celcius.

to the other guy's question, 50 celcius is 122 Farenheit...

nice, that looks pretty cool. the tan color of everything else seems kinda out of place though...I would try balancing it out by adding a bit more black and red here and there, like maybe red door handles and black behind the door handle, black speaker covers, and black floor mats.
I like matching the exterior color though, I'd wana do that with mine.

The key is .. prep work .. as with all paint jobs ... making sure you get all the oily cleaners and crap off of it .. using dawn dishsoap or something ..then the sanding .. then prime .. and I used my paint gun .. gravity fed .. 14 tip .. just hung the shit in the garage and sprayed.. make sure you paint on a warm dry day in the am .. near noon ... just give it a few coats of base.. a 2-4 coats of clear .. I used dupont chroma clear since i had some around .. but nason works well too .. and ur good to go .. here are some pics ..

I'm lookin to do some painting too. The door panels are the MOST boring I've seen. Nothing like plain grey plastic top to bottom! I'm thinking on painting the center like the GT500,probably in black. Since the exterior is black, and I have put in a Carbon Fiber dash kit and window switch plate etc.. Any thought s?
