Just use good products that are designed for the task. I recently bought a set of chrome cobra wheels. They had been severly neglected and looked like shit. I didn't know how well they were going to turn out. They had stains and were covered with brake fluid, dirt and grease. Started with Meg's wheel cleaner, moved on to a large stiff brisled brush, then an old toothbrush. Washed them down with Meg's car wash. Finished them with more soapy water and .0000 steel wool. I spent about 4 hours on them but they look awesome now. Wished I would have taken before and after pics.
