Muffler question (visual aspect) + Emblem question

Alright so my dad has an '07 stang V6 and he is constantly complaining why on earth Ford made it so that the Muffler... or UTTER of the muffler sticks out so much causing a visual disturbance to a beautiful sports car.

I know most of you are gonna say just change it out for another exhaust system but my dad does not want to do that. Lowering the car is out of the question as well for him.

His car is Black...

what can someone suggest.... either painting it black with high temp engine paint ... or if there is a cover that can go over it so it is not so eye catching?

2nd QUESTION: Just got in a replacement pony emblem for a 97 V6, I want to paint it black as well and have the emblem look black AND shiny at the same time. Will clear coat make it look that way or do I have to buy something else?

thanks for the advice.

For your emblem, I would say just make sure you use gloss black instead of flat black to make it look shiny, and then a coat of clearcoat is always a good idea to help prevent the paint fade or scratch.

I would say for your dad's tips just paint them black with some high temp paint like you said.... or, just have the tips cut off so you can't see them and have the pipes end a little further forward on the car.

basically what both of you just said would be the best alternative. personally, i'd go with turndowns because they wouldn't be seen, but since you said he doesn't want a new exhaust, just go with the paint

Turn downs are great for a v6, but not for a gt. The rear bumper on a gt from 2000+ has the slots for tips remember. Either paint them black, cut them off (just like gills99stang said) ,or for a third option. Take your dad to a muffler shop and let him pick out new tips. That way its not a full exhaust, and he can pick something that he personally likes.

I assume he is talking about seeing the "body" of the muffler. Either paint those black or polish them. But getting something like a Borla axle back would be almost as good.

Here is an example of an axle back:

Magnaflow Axleback Exhaust System for the 2005-2006 Mustang V6 at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping! <--has pictures one the car

Cheap and probably a lot better looking than stock

This is a Dual Magnaflow exhaust for a 2005 - 2008 V6 Mustang. This system gives the V6 a GT look while providing a bump in horsepower and torque, as well as MagnaFlow signature smooth, deep tone. Unlike most V6 exhaust this exhaust does not crackle at high Rpms. This exhaust system is as loud if not louder then a stock Gt exhaust.
