Seat belt holding thingys

hey yo whats up!!
I don't know what they're called but you know the black plastic loops that are on the seats that kinda just hold the seat belt closer towards the front...I think they look gay and want to get rid of them.
I lifted up the headrests and saw two screws holding it down. I tried getting to them but with the headrest only going up maybe one and a half inches, it's pretty much impossible.
How can i do this? do I have to remove the headrest to just give myself the room? how do I safely take em off?

I tried that but I still didn't have enough room to squeeze it in there.

OK, I dont want to sound like a dick but, make sure they are not a loop thats just for convenience. What I mean is, be sure they are not something that will like keep the seatbelt where it needs to be in an accident.

Id hate to see the seatbelt "slide" up on recoil in an accident and papercut your head off

Go to mustangs unlimited. they sell roush seatbelt holders for like $20 for two and they look a hell of a lot better than the stock ones...I'm pretty sure if you take them off completely wearing your seat belt is gonna become a pain in the ass.

yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking, like I thought it was maybe there as an actual safety thing...but if you ever look over to it with the seatbelt on you, it is not touching the seatbelt at all, it's just like floating right through it, so it really seems to me like it's just there to make it a bit easier for you to grab the seatbelt when you go to fasten it.
those roush ones do look pretty cool actually...they say its for 99-04 though, I have a 94...alhtough they do look like they would fit still but I don't know.

I have an 04 GT and I don't even have my belt running through those things. It always seems to make my belt get all twisted and $hit. I haven't looked into removing them but you can get a right angled screw driver (kind of like an allen wrench) that might work.

actually I looked at mine last night and when I push my headrest all the way up and all the way foreward.... I can get any screwdriver in there. My screws are torx.... kind of look like a star in the center instead of a flat or phillips

i took mine off myself.

they are infact torx bits.

what i did was kind of sloppy but it worked.

i twisted the hell out of it with my hands and the loosened up the bits enough for my to unscrew them by hand.

no issues with wearing the seatbelt after they were off either.

you can just fucken twist em off by hand? huh...i guess I could try that...scared i'm gona brake something though. Did you kinda wiggle it quickly or just push slowly with lots of force? lol i guess it doesn't really matter...just thought I'd ask.

but in regards to 04bamagt's post...I don't think what you did could work for me, my headrests don't go forwards or anything, just up and down...and not by that much.

i removed mine awhile ago...took less than 5 mins...

they are torx bits.

they are made for comfort if your short they are made to keep the seat belt on your chest not digging into your neck...ive had one girl complain about my seat belts but simple solution hangout with taller girls

*They have nothing to do with safety...plus you drive a big steel boat...your safe *

oh lol shit, my girlfriend's only like 5'1".
whatever...I still wana try it.

lol no joke, last night I actually had a dream that I took them off successfully using HMUSN's method, it worked easy. Then I woke up and realized they hadn't been removed at all.
let's just hope it works that easily in real life!
