Rims: How big is too big?

So i got my first stang recently.

It's got the factory tires and wheels and came with a set of MB rims off of wheels.

I don't much like the factory wheels or the MBs, so I'm going to buy something else.

I want a convex spiderspoke type design, but my question is how big to go.

I want my ride to look nice, but I don't want to go too small, and I don't want to throw 20s on it and look like dom Torreto either.

What do you guys think is the nicest rim size without overdoing it?

Also, how big can you go on a stock '01 GT without having to mess with suspension and body work?

yeah it largely depends on the body style. seems like the newer it is, the bigger you wanna go.

18's would be the highest i would go, unless its a S197, then it's 20's for me, which comes on the SALEEN Mustangs

Mine is an 01 GT.

I was told 18 is the biggest I can go without runing into mods.

Is this true? or is it possible for me to sling 19s?

You can go 20's with out mods. they just wont be that wide of a tire in the front. 10s in back but 8.5's in front.

they don't look to bad. I might actually go with 20s.

What thicknesses in the front and back will fit my stock 01? and what tires would be best on them?

I'm a little scared it might make my car look rice with some of the mods that are already on it, but whatever.

10s in back but 8.5's in front. Talk to the tech guys at www.cruizinconcepts.com they are awesome and will tell you everything you need to know including what off-set. they will talk to you for hours on their dime 1-800# on website) great guys addicted to mustangs. Not sure if a lowerd car would be a problem with 20's...the tech guys should know.

Just remember when you get a flat, you will find an affordable 19" tire "days" before you will find a 20"(most likely have to be ordered). Plus a lot of garages don't have machines to accomadate a 20" rim size. 19's are the way to go and get yourself some Run Flat tires because you won't be able to use your spare anymore. Mods always cost more money down the road, so always check the cons as well as the pros.

Post some pics when you get them.

Looks good but I Beleive you shortened the length when you resized it. He appears short and squaty and no body. Did you make it smaller to scale?
