Instrument Lens

Hey all. A question on my 1998 V6 Mustang coupe. The instrument lens is all cracked and foggy. I found the 94-98 replacement on 50resto.com, but it is 74.00. Somebody told me that the 1999 lens cover will also fit and it is much cheaper (34.00). Can anybody confirm this?

I know the lens placement is the same to the gauge cluster, except the speedo/rpm is switched and it is not the digital odo...

Not sure if it will bolt the same to the white piece behind the lens- sorry for not being able to help

where did you find the 99 lens?

My brother attempted to "clean" my interior... naturally he ruined the lens...

Is this the one?

I'm looking for the clear lens... I always thought this was the instrument panel.

You need the one for your year. The description is vague on the link you suggested, but I cannot tell the difference for $50 in the 94-98 vs. the 99-04. Call or emial them via the contacts on main page to find out what you need for sure. You can't beat their prices on stock replacement stuff.

An option is something like I have: Simco Gauge cluster.

It comes with the housing, lens, white face custom gauges, needles, all pre-callibrated- you just swap over your stock circuitboard. I did, however, pay $249.99 for mine...

that link is just one off of the one you provided.

99 35th anniversary lens... it's just the pics looks like the gauge... housing. I'm sorry I'm not sure if I have my terminology right.

Thanks, I'll probably get one... Mine is pretty scratched up... looks like crap.

Thats why I got a new cluster. My lens (the plastic piece that covered the gauges) was scratched, so I bought a new cluster (everything)

Good luck, I think that silver will look better than the black

By chance, anything to prevent this from happening.. I mean for something that I rarely touch... I don't see why so many people have reported it scratched...

any cleaner to avoid?

any cleaners I should try?

Make sure you dont just wipe it down when cleaning. Use a glass cleaner like "Stoner's Invisible Glass" to lubricate and prevent scratching. If you just wipe it down, It will get swirls and scratches.

To alleviate the current scratches, buff manually with rubbing compound, a polish, and a wax

No. It would cost you more to fabricate a curved piece of plexi that had holes in it for the screws to connect the lens to the cluster housing.
