lots of paint questions

I'm looking to paint several things and am wondering if the cheap options I've seen on the internet are worth it or just plain old junky looking.

First off, i need some touch up paint for a couple of scratches on my car. I've seen some websites offering touch up paint as long you know your paint code. I had a hard time finding where mine was located but then again i diddnt really look that hard.

Second, I was thinking about smoking out my back tail lights. I saw a thread either here or somewhere else about spray tint being used on tail lights to smoke them out. Is this effective and where can i buy this stuff??

This last one i'm not sure about, becuase it sounds really junky. I've alwyas been itnerested in having black rims but at 200 a wheel thats a bit pricey. I googled around and found some things about spraying your own rims black. Seems to be it owuld look really fake and trashy but I'm not really sure.

Anybody know any good products or had an success with any of these such projects? (If you cant tell, I look for the cheapest way out of things. I ended up mounting a license plate bracket on my front bumper to cover a hole made by a tailgate)

1. open your driver door and look at the sticker on the right. the abbreviation ext pnt will have a letter and number next to it. thats your paint code ex ext pnt............K6

Buy nightshades spray tint or the ones you apply

3. if done right you can paint your own rims tto look good

i looked more into others who have painted thier rims. When it comes to the paint people seem to use whatever they want. I've seen some who use black grill rated spray paint and some who just use plain black spray paint. Would it be best to use the touch up paint to exaclty match my car for the rims or should i just use a heavy duty black spray paint?

My two cents on the rims is to check into powder coating in your area. It may not be the cheapest way to got, but the better looking way to go. Also it will hold up better.

Nice... Ive never heard of that one before. It stays on???

As far as touch up goes. Be carefull. A bad touch up job can be worse than the scratch.

For a temporary fix, use lipstick. I know it sounds nuts. Go back and forth against the scratch and the lipstick will imbed down in the scratch. Lightly buff the back and forth with a towel and get all the extra off. It fills in nice and doesnt hurt squat. I have a spot I do that to on my car. I have to reapply it about once a month. No big deal. It will keep the scratch from growing while you find a good touch up.

Wifeys still trying to figure out where her "whore" blue went.
