new headlights! my question is... have any of you used a sealant to prevent them from foggin up inside? i want to prolong the life of these, american muscle says they recomend using a silicone RTV sealant. I was at home depot tonight, but as usual there was like one person running the entire store so i couldnt ask for help. what have you guys used or think would be a good thing to use? is there a silicone sealant made specifically for plastics? thanks all. these are them ![]() ![]() (thats the pic from american muscle)

well i was just thinkng about getting a clear multipurpose silicone, seems easy enough. just want to know if there is something better. you can prob still seal em up so it doesnt happen again shiftyv6. (and yeah i miss the days when there was like senior citizen employees on every aisle, they always knew their shit. now its like just some teenagers who usually dont know the answer
. oh well)

Well, Im 32 and I feel old around here. Can I give a suggestion....
Liquid Nails makes a crystal clear acrylic. I use it on everything. I like it because it NEVER turns yellow and it seals great. You can't really use it like a glue but its the best clear sealer Ive ever used. Alot of them claim to stay clear but this one really does. It also stays really flexable to keep it from cracking. Its only like $5 for a tube. On the label one of the recommended uses is for automotive. Just to let you know, Ive had great results with it. It seems like it would be perfect for the plastics on a headlight assembly. Just curious, where do you put the sealant to keep them from fogging? I noticed on my brakelights theres actually little holes at the top to let moisture out.

sweet, liquid nails is gooood stuff, i didnt know they made a sealant. im def going to go get that and use it! thanks j002gl. i am not really sure where to seal them, ill have to look at them when they get here. i imagine one would just seal it between the clear part on the front of the assemblies and the black plastic on the back part.
oh hey j002gl i got that scoop i wanted so bad, haha just ended up buying the whole hood of craigslist.

Wow! That makes a big difference. Im a big fan of the scoops. With those new lights, its going to be nice. Now I see why you want to make sure theyre sealed good and stay clear.
When my wife got hit by that drunk driver last winter I had to replace one of my headlights. I remember looking at the ones you bought. With all the other repairs I had, my budget was limited. I would have gotten those if not. They're perfect for Mustangs. They look modern without being too "ricey" in my opinion. Good pick. That "black " on the grill pony seems to be holding up real well too. Also, for $150, you got a steal. That seems like a really low price.
