Gauge Lights

in the 94-98 mustangs, how are the gauges colored? is it a film over the face itself, or colored bulbs? i could take it apart but if someone knows the answer offhand it would save me a lot of work. i'd like to change it from greenish to blue or even white but im not sure how to go about it

oh and aftermarket faces are out of the question, unless someone has a link to black ones. the white doesn't go at all with my interior and i only want the light color change anyway.

im my 99 theres no film but idk about your year, probly not tho. i used #94 led bulbs to light my gauges blue and its a really easy job. if i were you id just check wut the gauages have behind it. it takes like 10 minutes if that to remove it and check

just want to let people know if they're looking for the info, i checked yesterday and the 94-98 gauges use a filter on the face itself to create the color, the bulbs are clear. i wish it was the same case as with the 99-04's :/

i'm not sure what you're saying...the 99-04 gauges use bulbs? i know that...i wish the 94-98 gauges were the same way. i wanted to change the color without buying a new face. (or buy a black face..but no one makes one)

hes trying to say that the 94-98 gauges have a colored film behind them that gives the gauges their color. this is different from the 99-04 which get their color from the bulbs themselves so its easier for them to change gauges color.

it might be possible to scrape off the color tint on the 94-98 gauges but idk if youre willing to try that. theres places that make custom gauges too

has anyone here done business with caribbean customs? they are the only place i can find that would do black faces..but they're kind of expensive cause it's completely custom.

i think wljohnson got his from there. not sure of his full name tho cuz its got numbers on the end, but a search will reveal the whole name. if you really want black gauges, than you gotta pay for it no matter how much it is i guess. custom is always more unfortunately
