Clay Bar?

Any of you guys/girls try to use Clay bar to get the swirls out... The dealership fucked my car up real nice with swirls... Dam Kids should stick to mowing lawns and not detailing cars.... I heard alot of great things about Clay Bar but so far only on imports...

OK first clay bar will NOT remove swirls . Next thing is it is dam near impossible to do any damage to your car when using clay bar. Unless of course you drop it on the ground and then continue to use it. All clay bar does is lift contaminants out of the paint surface nothing more.

To remove swirl you will need a swirl remover and a Porter Cable or other Random Orbital Polisher with the proper pads.

Here is a great link to learn about detailing your vehicle.

Auto Detailing Facts, auto detailing Tips, How to detailing Guides, how to polish, how to wax

I would highly suggest trying this product for your problem: Ultra Finish

As stated above, clay barring does not remove swirls, as it is not a polish. Clay bar removes impurities from your paint and restores that smooth glass like feeling. To remove swirls, try a good polish from any of the name brand manufacturers such as Mothers or Meguiars. Although I have used all of them, and while any of those will work and work well, the Ultra Finish I have suggested by far yields the best results with the least amount of work.

EDIT: sweet link, Richard, thanks man. All Richards must be smart guys.....(that's also my name lol)

Lots of great info at that site and it can help you learn to keep your car looking it's best.

I myself am pretty anal when it comes to car care. I did not even allow the dealership to wash my car prior to getting it and they could not undersatnd why. I picked it up dirty and with all the wrapping still on it. Then i brought it home and washed it and detailed it. That was the first and only time to this point it hhas been washed with soap and water and it's been 1.5 years

Cool. I'm pretty similar. Although mine sees more soap and water, maybe 5 times a summer, because I have to use my Stang as a DD, and it sees 500 miles a week of commuting. It's normal care is a touchless Esso car wash, the Ultra Finish I mentioned, and when it needs it I use the Mr. Clean Autodry thing with the softest mitt I can get my hands on. Other than that, I claybar it in the spring, and then put a coat of Gold Class on it.
